Merry Christmas from everyone at Sykes Cottages. We hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday with plenty of laughter, games and family fun. So, how did you celebrate Christmas? If it felt like you were running around to get everything organised and see everyone, why not consider spending next Christmas in a holiday cottage with your nearest and dearest?

Take the pressure off

Choosing a self-catering cottage for Christmas is a great way to reduce your stress levels before the big day.  Most of our holiday cottages are decorated for the festive season so you won’t have to worry about bringing a tree or digging out old decorations from the attic.  To make your festive break run even more smoothly, order your Christmas groceries online and have them delivered on the day you arrive so you don’t have to race around the local supermarket.  Relax at your holiday cottage with a glass of mulled wine and just enjoy the festivities!  The big day itself should go without a hitch with plenty of volunteers to peel vegetables, set the table and wash the dishes.

Room for all the family

If you’ve got a big family, you’ll want to have a look at our large Christmas cottages.  Find a festive cottage with enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate everyone in comfort.  Christmas can be a stressful time, so choosing a spacious cottage so everyone can let off steam if needed is a great idea.  Choose a central location to make the journey easy for everyone; it’s no fun going from house to house in the cold and snow unless, of course, you’re dressed like Father Christmas!  Booking a short break over the Christmas period also gives your whole party flexibility as each member of the family can arrive at their convenience.  Plus, when it comes to Christmas dinner, you won’t have to worry about finding enough chairs as each cottage is equipped with more than enough seating and crockery for everyone.

Have a wonderful Christmas

Recreate a typical Christmas card scene with a cosy cottage in the UK and hopefully it will snow.  Instead of dozing on the sofa after Christmas lunch, make the most of your excellent location and round up the whole family for a bracing walk.  It’s a great opportunity for some family bonding without the distractions of new toys and television Christmas specials.  We have cottages located throughout some of the most beautiful parts of the UK and Ireland; Christmas on the beach or in a National Park could be just a few clicks away!  Of course, if you do want to relax in front of the TV, our cottages are perfect for that too!

Believe it or not, we have already taken bookings for cottage holidays for Christmas 2013.  Why not browse the Sykes Cottages website from the comfort of your sofa with a selection box in hand to make plans for next Christmas?
