Cornwall has some of the best, varied and most picturesque beaches in the UK. There are secluded and quiet beaches, some of which are only accessible by scrambling over rocks, and then there are the great, golden expansive beaches that are busy all year round.

Try your hand at surfing, or one of Cornwall’s many other exciting outdoor activities

It’s off the beautiful coast of Cornwall that the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean converge in a dramatic fashion; the beaches themselves are often backed by grass-tufted sand dunes or heather-topped cliffs. The fine, golden sand and clear water make them the perfect destination for sunbathers and fans of water sports alike, and the rock pools, cafes, restaurant and other amenities provide plenty to keep visitors of all ages occupied.

If Newquay is the UK’s surfing capital, then Fistral beach is the surfing capital of the surfing capital. Fistral is a great place for experts to perform their tricks, and for spectators to watch. It’s also a great place to learn, and there are plenty of surf schools and rental shops in the area.

There are hundreds of beaches in Cornwall. However, The Strangles, Watergate Bay and Porthcurno Beach all warrant a mention; each of them truly stunning beaches and each with their own unique character.
