Places To See In Sheringham

As people who have stayed in one of our holiday cottages there will know, Sheringham has a lovely town beach and is home to the North Norfolk Railway, which offers steam and vintage diesel train rides though areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Sheringham and the neighbouring towns of Holt and Weybourne. Sheringham Park at Upper Sheringham makes another excellent day out, with miles of countryside paths waiting to be explored on foot or two wheels, superb collections of azaleas and rhododendrons, and viewing towers offering spectacular costal views.

Other local places of interest include Fellbrigg Hall, an elegant National Trust property just a couple of miles away beyond Cromer and one of the finest seventeenth century houses in the area. Enjoy a stroll through the Orangery, beautiful walled gardens, landscaped park with lakeside walks and woodland nature trails, or visit the house with its fine, well-preserved collection of eighteenth century furniture.

For a day out of a different nature, the Muckleburgh Military Museum is a private collection of military memorabilia offering the chance to try your own hand at driving a tank, or be taken on a ‘thrills and spills’ tour of the coast in an authentic American personnel carrier. Wander through the museum with its varied collections and let the little ones run off steam in the Adventure play area. Priory Maze and Gardens has ten acres of enchanting gardens to discover. Children will enjoy tackling the quiz trail, watching wildlife and discovering the beech maze, whilst adults will appreciate the tranquil gardens and plant nursery set amid the lovely ruins of Beeston Priory.
