As the weather gets colder, the days get shorter making our workdays seem longer and our home life rushed. At this time of year we find ourselves longing for a break to recharge and relax. Well you’re in luck! Here at Sykes Cottages our Winter Short Breaks are now available! From November 1st right up until April 5th you can book as little as a 3 night stay at any cottage that offers this special Winter Short Break discount (simply check the bottom of each property page to see if the discount applies). We want to make your winter break as stress free as possible, so here at Sykes’ HQ we have come up with a few tips for booking a winter getaway!
What would be your winter wonderland? For me I like nothing better than a heavy snowfall and plenty of open space to build giant snowmen and host epic snowball fights. In order to get a guaranteed snow fall, head up North to a Scottish cottage. Every year the Scots are bombarded with snow and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind us borrowing some! Make sure to look out for an isolated cottage so you have plenty of room to host your wintry battle. If you’re looking to do something different this year then why now cross the sea to Ireland? We have a whole host of Irish cottages which make for a perfect romantic retreat. Take a long walk hand in hand with that special someone through the Irish countryside and when you’re done, snuggle up in front of a roaring open fire. If you don’t fancy the crossing to Ireland you could always stay in a cottage with an open fire here in the UK, just as warm and a little closer to home!
You could never be bored of winter activities here in the UK and I often find myself wondering how I can fit everything in, but with a 3 night Winter Short Break it allows you to make the most of your weekend off. Like all girls, I love shopping and delight in a good Christmas market! Salisbury in Wiltshire has one of the most spectacular Christmas markets around, with inspired gifts, beautifully decorated chalets, traditional music by the local choir and enough food to feed all of Santa’s little helpers. We have a stunning range of Wiltshire holiday cottages available so you can explore this fantastic market for yourself. Other traditional activities can also be done from your winter cottage; why not take up baking for the festive season? Or even hand craft your Christmas gifts? Having some time away from home really inspires you to get out there and try something new!
A Winter Short Break with Sykes Cottages allows you to make the most of this festive season; just remember the dates exclude both Christmas and New Year week along with any school holidays. If you’d like more information on our winter short breaks, simply visit our main website or call our reservations team who are on hand from 9am to 9:30pm 7 days a week!
