The Lake District’s beautiful countryside inspired Beatrix Potter to write her famous series of books. Tales of Peter Rabit...
Picturesque Grosmont is a small rural community set amongst the rolling farmland of the Esk valley, within the North York Moors National Park. Many visitors on a cottage holiday discover Grosmont whilst enjoying a steam train trip on the famous North Yorkshire Steam Railway, which stops here en-route from Pickering. The station is a loving recreation of the 1950’s era in rail travel, complete with a fifties-themed tea room for refreshments.
The local area offers some fine country walks; visit the ancient standing stones at Low Bride Stones, or enjoy what has become known as Heartbeat country; the pretty village of Goathland, close to Grosmont, was used as a location set for both the popular Heartbeat television series and as Hogsmeade, as featured in the first of the Harry Potter films. Enjoy a stroll on nearby Goathland Moor and soak up the remote beauty of this idyllic countryside.
