  • "A spotlessly clean lovely first class property with all the facilities you could need or want."

A welcome tray with essentials was a nice touch. The only downside was the bed was very hard ( a personal choice but it was hard) also the use of labels everywhere ( even on obvious things) was a bit odd. We wouldn’t return but that is no reflection on the cottage but on the location…too many narrow winding roads.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you found the bed hard - we have not had complaints from other guests and as you say, it is a matter of personal preference. Regarding the use of labels, we find that guests do not alway take the time to read the Information Folder we provide or the email we send before their stay, with pre-arrival information, so we use laels to help guests - what may be obvious to one person isn't so clear to another. Yes, we are in a rural location with narrow winding roads, but that means very little traffic noise or delays and plenty of opportunities to appreciate the countryside. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful holiday at Belview Cottage - the photos looked really good when we booked, but they don't really do it justice."

The cottage is in a fabulous rural location with a lovely garden and is very peaceful with just the sounds of birds to wake up to. The nearby Blackmore Vale area is excellent for walking and there are dedicated cycle trails nearby. Great pubs with good food too. The cottage itself is spacious, well equipped with quality applicances, warm, comfortable and above all immaculately clean and well decorated. It has everything you might want including electric car charger and super fast broadband. We've never before stayed in a cottage that we'd give top marks to on all aspects. Outstanding.

The location is very rural, quiet and with lovely views across the Dorset countryside. The cows were curious but friendly. Gillian and Brian were discrete hosts but made us feel very at home with a welcome-pack of local produce. A nice touch. • "The cottage was lovely ,but the bedroom on the front room was not very good for a double bed ,with the eves slopping far to much ."

one room up stairs would better

We are sorry that you were not happy with the double bedroom. The rooms are described fully in the advert and can also be seen in the photographs. It is up to guests to check the properties suitability for their requirements before they make a booking. We took on the cottage as an existing holiday let business with two bedrooms. To convert it to one bedroom would require considerable expense on structural work and re-decoration and would also limit our pool of potential guests to couples or single adults only instead of families and friends. As we are unable to do this at present, we do our best to make sure that all other aspects of the property are presented and maintained to the highest standards we can achieve, as proven by our annual Four Star with Gold Award under the Visit England Quality Assessment Scheme. We have let this property for over 12 years with many satisfied guests, including several who make frequent return visits. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is still very new and beautifully equipped, the lounge is lovely and comfortable for relaxing."

The kitchen is superbly fitted out and easy to use with every little detail thought of. The bedrooms are warm and well lit, the only fly in the ointment being the roofline either side of the dormers, which in the double room, entailed my climbing over the bed as banging my head (my fault) was a bit wearing. The location is wonderful and funny and the satnav struggled but always got us within 200mts. Overall a wonderful escape.

STURMINSTER NEWTON

Blandford Forum 11 miles.

The small, attractive market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six-arch, 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation to those who may damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage Coast is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round!
