  • "It’s a super bungalow in a lovely quiet location."

Our only minor criticism is that all the frying pans really need replacing; their non stick ability is almost non existent. We’d certainly book there again.

The house was very comfortable with most things that we required (except dishwasher tablets). The house is ideally located for trips to Gairloch and the surrounding area. We were lucky to have really good weather and appreciated the enclosed garden; which was great for the dog. It was lovely to meet you and we hope to be able to visit the area again in the future.

Was sad to leave. The owners, who are on site, Christine and Gordon, are lovely and friendly. Christine greeted me on arrival, showing me where everything was. The bungalow had everything that I needed. Very comfy and clean. The enclosed garden was a bonus due to having two lively dogs. Would highly recommend.

Gairloch town just 10 mins away by car , with lots of facilities(good petrol station). Lots of clean, pristine, deserted beaches within 10 miles. With Firemore beach just up the road. Terrific mountain views on the Torridon/Sheildaig road. Loads to discover if you look. The week flew by for us. Nice chinese takeaway in Gairloch town. Ullapool 50 mins away. Big town with a large Tesco supermarket. More to see, very touristy. Great place for staying with dogs.

  • "The bungalow was in a quiet very nice area ."

Not many local amenities but Gairloch was only 5 miles away with a almost deserted beach .Thare was a cafe / restaurant at the golf course which was excellent - also allowed us in with our dogs. The locals were friendly and very helpful. The owners of the house made us very welcome on arrival. The house was warm and comfortable but I think the sofas could do with replacing - otherwise excellent . I would stay there again.

It is the first house we have been where the oven was immaculate. The area has plenty of spectacular walking areas and the beaches were great. Although they were much busier than when we here four years ago, especially with motor homes. The house is situated in a quiet area and just a short walk to the shop and hotel.

Very well equipped cottage. Everything was in good working condition. Only 200 yards from village "centre" with a well stocked shop and a restaurant with astonishingly good food. The famous gardens are roughly half a mile away. You can take some mountain hikes directly from the property. And do not miss the village market on Tuesday! The sea is just 5 minutes walk, however I strongly recommend a fantastic beach about 6 miles away - the owners will show you where it is. Partly due to the cottage that really exceeded our expectations we had great holidays.

I stupidly left my car key locked inside my car when we were away on a trip 8 mls away. Mr and Mrs MacLean came with our spare key from the house which saved us an 8 mile walk. This was a fantastic help in a time of panic. We all had a great time.

About the location

POOLEWE

Dingwall 50 miles; Ullapool 50 miles.

The pretty village of Poolewe sits in the shelter of Loch Ewe, at the mouth of the River Ewe where it tumbles down from Loch Maree. It is a pretty place in an area of spectacular scenery and is home to a well-stocked shop, small swimming pool and two hotels. The world-renowned Inverewe Garden (National Trust for Scotland) is half a mile across the bay from the village. The site was developed by the botanist Osgood Mackenzie from 1862 until his death in 1922. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is home to exotic plants, imported from all over the world – a must for all visitors to the area. Firemore beach is five miles to the west and north along the coast is Gruinard Bay with its striking sands; a series of attractive beaches skirt the bay and a number are easily reached from the main road. With spectacular scenery, mountains, excellent hillwalking, golf, fishing, wildlife cruises and much more, this is a great area for a holiday!
