Location: Wern Y Wylan

Llanddona 2.5 miles; Beaumaris 5 miles; Benllech 8 miles.

Wern y Wylan is a unique hamlet which offers striking examples of early 20th Century Arts & Crafts architecture, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the north east corner of the Isle of Anglesey. Less than a mile away is the stunning Blue Flag beach of Red Wharf Bay, a paradise for birdlife and safe bathing, and when the tide is out it offers 10 square miles of golden sands. 5 miles from Wern y Wylan is the attractive town of Beaumaris, boasting a 13th Century moated castle, Georgian and early Victorian houses and shops, tea rooms, excellent restaurants and bistros, and stylish shops. Visit the town's old courthouse and Victorian gaol, or the pier where you can fish for crabs or catch a boat to see the birds on Puffin Island. From the pier and promenade there are spectacular views across the Menai Straits and Snowdonia. Nearby Penmon Priory, founded in the 6th Century by Saint Seiriol and with its Holy Well and Dovecote, is just a short walk away on the scenic Anglesey Coastal Path.

The cottage was fantastic and the owners were very warm and welcoming. My little girl fell in love with all the horses and Millie the cat. We fell in love with Angelsey and the cottage -the best holiday in a long time.
