This was an amazing holiday let and the owner had gone the extra to make us feel welcome - chocolate eggs for Easter, Welsh cakes, bottle of bubbly in the fridge etc. Would highly recommend this rental to friends.

The property

Llanberis 3 miles.

A beautiful conversion occupying one half of the old Brynrefail Chapel, situated right in the heart of the village of Brynrefail, which is surrounded by countryside, a few minutes’ walk from the stunning Llyn Padarn and three miles from the village of Llanberis.

This lovely property is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of North Wales and given its location would certainly appeal to outdoor enthusiasts, couples, friends and families.

Ty’n y Capel is essentially a semi-detached house but occupying one half of the old chapel, it goes without saying it’s not your conventional house or cottage!

Having undergone total conversion in 2011 by local craftsmen, the property has been sympathetically refurbished to a very good standard whilst keeping the buildings charm and character and incorporating the latest energy efficient technologies available, such as "Finn glass" heated double glazed windows, electric underfloor heating and solar panels to heat the hot water.

The generous and well-proportioned accommodation is extenuated with high ceilings and the large, almost gothic like full length windows; all featuring half-moon stain glass leaded fan lights in the bedrooms and landing.

The level of care and attention the cottage owners have gone to ensures you will have a wonderful stay, and is evident from the moment you walk through the large double entrance doors.

The sitting room is light and spacious with plenty of comfy seating for everyone, the perfect place to relax after a day on the mountains, and the modern, fitted and well-equipped kitchen/diner with integral appliances caters for all your needs.

Upstairs there is a spacious family bathroom with bath and a separate walk-in shower cubicle, and the three bedrooms, all tastefully styled and with good quality, comfy beds will ensure you have a good night’s sleep.

Two of the bedrooms have the added benefit of zip/link, super king-size beds which lends the property to some flexible sleeping arrangements and the master bedroom also enjoys wonderful countryside and hillside scenery, an adjoining cot room and a modern en-suite shower room.

Outside, a blocked paved patio area enjoys a sunny aspect, ideal for enjoying alfresco dining in this wonderful area of Snowdonia or simply enjoy a morning cup of tea whilst planning the day ahead.

This wonderful property offers a great base from which to explore the local area, visiting the nearby towns of Bangor and Caernarfon with its majestic heritage castle, Llanberis which is the gateway to the peak of Snowdon, or the popular mile-long zip wire at Bethesda.

There is so much to see and do with the choice of outdoor activities on offer in this area, and then enjoy returning to the comfort of this delightful property at the end of a busy day.

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
