  • "We had issues with the following-no heating on arrival with 2 windows open and the weather was cold and wet."

The owner was able to provide a heater by the second day and restored the central heating by the third day. The TV was listed as a smart TV but the poor Internet rendered this facility unusable. The DVD player could not be used as there was no hand set. The towel rail fell off in the bathroom and the shower head would stay in the required position due to wear. The kettle wouldn't pour without dribbling hot water. There were no instruction leaflets for the electrical goods and no welcome pack of up to date information. No welcome tray on arrival.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Little Gwaelod."

Mrs Coates is a lovely lady who was more than happy to chat with us and suggest places for us to visit. The cottage provided us with everything we needed for a perfect holiday and it is in a great situation for traveling around Anglesey as it is just off Junction 4 of the A55. Beaches and access to the coastal path are close by. The cottage is at the end of a private driveway with ample room for parking in a safe and secluded environment. The gardens are glorious to explore or just relax in. We would have no hesitation in staying in this lovely cottage again. Many thanks to Mrs Coates for making our stay so enjoyable.

The carpets were very dirty, the sofa and chairs were very grimy and all the soft furnishings smelled horrible. There was also mildew in the dilapidated kitchen cupboards and that smell also permeated into the air. Everything we took with us needed washing when we got home. A very disappointing experience for our one week away! We would not recommend this to anyone.

The garden was very spacious and we were able to sit and walk in all the different"rooms" outside. The cottage was very well situated for getting about and easy to find from the instructions. Some of the kitchen equipment could do with updating, but was perfectly adequate except for two saucepans which didn't work well on the cooker as weren't flat enough! • "On arrival everything looked good."

On entering the cottage we noticed an old and damp smell. We could not put any of our cloths in the drawers because of the damp smell. Later on we had to move the settee only the notice that the back had fungus on and some of the walls and tables also had damp showing. We think that the whole cottage needs a deep clean except for the bathroom which looks like it was new fairly recently. In the kitchen thinks did not get any better. The oven didn’t work, the knobs were dirty and the numbers for heat we’re worn out. The washing machine was really dirty and rusty so we did not use it and the fridge had rust on the door. All the utensils needed to be washed before we could use them. Reading the reviews from years back it must have been so much better. On the good side the garden was really nice with ponds and lawns and lots of seating areas and we were allowed to walk our dog anywhere. The owner was a lovely lady living there but I think it is all a bit much for her now. So sorry that this sounds so bad but it could be a lovely cottage with a good renovation

Property smelt awful, like walking into a care home. After a trip to the local Wilko I spent the first hour cleaning but didn’t have much success. Having health issues and limited mobility I was concerned the lack of cleanliness would make my condition worse and so departed after just one night of what should have been a four night stay. Raised my concerns with Sykes and the owner on arrival but received no satisfaction. Promised call backs from Sykes, these never happened. Very disappointing and upsetting as this was a treat from friends to try and lift my spirits.

Another property that was on the owners property had a dog that actually got through the hedge and wanted to attack our dog or selves (luckily the owner managed to get it back) The cottage is decent but in urgent need of some TLC. There was no matching plates, and what was there were chipped, the cups were old with scratch marks inside etc and the kitchen cupboard floor was worn out and had holes in. All the appliances were very old and worn and rusty. There was no welcome pack to say where the local doctors, vets etc were or any other local facilities. There was only a list of pubs and restaurants. It would not take a great deal of time and money to make the cottage feel more welcoming - along with no dog mess. I have no idea if Sykes will actually publish this - but I would not say that this comes up to the expectations we have of a Sykes listed property as we have been using them for years and normally are more than pleased.
