  • "We have had a fabulous time at the house!"

It was beautiful, cosy and had everything we needed and more for the few days we stayed. Abit of road noise because of the windows and location but did not impact on us enjoying our stay

  • "We stayed for 3 nights during the October half term."

The house is in such a great location, just a few minutes walk into town with great local pubs and shops. The house itself was clean and tidy, just short of a few things like toilet roll and only one towel per person so would advise you bring extra. Only issue really was the bathroom - the shower is tied to the holder which makes it difficult to use, also the tiles are a bit stained and the bathroom does get extremely wet as the water doesn't stay within the cubicle. None of this was a huge issue but worth keeping in mind. Host was very friendly and answered any questions we had. Kitchen is equipped with everything you could need. All in all, a really good stay and we'd definitely return.

  • "We had a wonderful weekend here."

Six friends catching up in a beautiful house. Everything we needed was there, although a little low on champagne flutes, but wine glasses were fine! If, like us, you prefer to have more than one towel each - bring some with you. Just an extra hand towel each would have helped dry long hair!! Beds were comfy. We were a bit disappointed to find half the decking had been painted the day of our arrival, as it was 26degrees and we were looking forward to a night in the garden but the smell of paint was too strong. Luckily the kitchen was big enough and a pleasant place to sit all evening. And we managed an hour or two out there the following day after the paint had dried. Overall everything was great - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and found it very handy having 2 bathrooms with decent sized showers (with plenty of warm water for 6 consecutive showers). The living room was very comfy and the location of the house was ideal for a short stroll to the Porthaethwy shops, bus stops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Many of which have gorgeous views of Y Fenai. Perfect!

  • "We booked the Art Deco house last minute for a little mini break to end the school hols."

We were 2 families of 4 adults & 2 teenagers. We were so surprised of how spacious the house was, lovely big kitchen, very well stocked, amazing social back garden. The weather was kind in the main & we was able to sit out & play board games, with music & drinks in the evening - very lovely. Bedrooms comfortable, great having 2 bathrooms (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs). The downstairs bathroom shower was a bit crazy & literally soaked the entire bathroom when in use, something needs fixing on the way it’s positioned so it pours down, not everywhere ! Location is great, we wandered down into Menai & for dinner at Dylan’s. Two of our party are runners & found some lovely morning runs over Menai bridge & onto a coastal path. It was fab being 2 mins walk to the beautiful straits. We made the most of our stay & whilst the weather was good we was out exploring the island, so we spent time in the house in the morning & evening. We would 100% use this house again, exceeded expectations. Thank you Art Deco x

  • "Our 9th visit to Anglesey and the island is as lovely as ever."

We did end up leaving on Wednesday rather than Friday due to lack of sleep resulting in a very unrested holiday for all of the family. The property has original 1930s windows which are beautiful but also not fit for purpose in the front double room (which is a single at best). Both windows in this room do not close properly resulting in a huge amount of road noise coming into the room plus it is February and cold outside. Our daughter was unable to sleep in this room so ended up sleeping on our floor. New windows are needed but the noise could be masked by a simple sound proofing screen in the window or just provide ear plugs until the matter is sorted! this room and the back twin bedroom also have very poor fitting blinds which let in too much light resulting in being woken up too early (in summer this really would be an issue). A simple pair of curtains would be the easy answer so visitors have the option to use if they wish. These comments were reported to sykes and the property manager (Owners son) rang us to get an idea of the issues. This started off well and we said why we were leaving early and offered constructive suggestions as to how things could be improved for future guests, for the property manager to then blame our “insomnia” on lunar cycles! And say the windows not closing is positive as they provide extra ventilation as the windows get so much condensation (his words) Very insulting. We ended the conversation and within minutes had a grovelling message of apology from him. Customer service = zero. The issues we raised to the manager (when he rang asking why we were leaving early) were purely constructive with suggestions on how the issues could be rectified for improve the guest experience. The cottage is no frills value, but the issues raised didn’t allow us to relax and feel rested as you should on holiday. With the added bonus of free insults from the property manager! I’d be interested to see new photos of the property added to the listing with new windows / curtains added.

On arrival, I found many chipped bowls and dinner plates. Other plates and mugs had not been properly cleaned by the last dishwasher use, and top shelf items were dusty. In the event, I felt the need to wash any items I used. I wanted to use the largest saucepan, but couldn't face having to scrub it first so found an alternative clean one! In spite of instructions provided, I didn't manage to get the fan oven to work.

  • "It was a real pleasure to stay here."

Normally you would think of holiday accommodation as essentially functional, somewhere to 'be', in between the parts of your actual holiday that take place elsewhere. Here though, the owner has made a real effort to provide somewhere a little quirky and stylish, that is memorable in itself. All the thought and attention to detail have paid off, and gave us somewhere we could enjoy living for a week. The functional side works pretty well too - we don't drive, and this place is somewhere we can easily reach by public transport, provides easy walking distance to restaurants and cafes in Menai Bridge, and a Waitrose 5 minutes in the other direction. It also makes a great base for exploring Anglesey, as the bus stop in the centre of Menai Bridge has services that take you all over the island. We have stayed here before, and intend to do so again.

The dining kitchen has everything you need, is light & airy. French windows to a private enclosed decked area with table & chairs, perfect for dinning outside with a glass of wine. Lovely comfortable lounge. Comfortable beds. We didn’t use the shower off the kitchen, we couldn’t work it out ? Take care on the tiles in the bathroom. Lovely house thank you. • "Our concerns about previous reports that the property was not clean were completely allayed."

The property is rather quirky, but the bed was very comfortable and the owner has gone to a lot of trouble to provide what he thinks is required. The upstairs bathroom worked well, but my husband said the downstairs wet room didn't work for him (it could be him). The property is ideally situated for strolling locally including right under the suspension bridge or visiting anywhere in Anglesey or North Wales. I would describe the house as more stylish than comfortable, but maybe I am showing my age. The back garden is a nice place to sit in the sun. Car parking was fine, once we got the hang of the situation.

Owner turned up to ask us if everything was OK and we told him that the washing machine didn't lock, it was unclean and there were no cooking things. No dishes to cook in no measuring jugs, no mixing bowls. The area is beautiful, but the property needs a lot of things doing to sort it out. Chairs on decking were mouldy. The owner said He had new ones but hadn't put them out as it was the end of the season. He still had bookings and shouldn't have left old mouldy chairs out. Also, no locks on either bathroom door. Filthy at the side of the double bed where the bed had not been pulled out to clean. Cobwebs above fridge freezer. Bathroom fans didn't turn off unless you switched the switch above the door which if your small your not going to reach!!

It was very clean and comfortable, especially the beds and living room. The kitchen had good storage and bathrooms were excellent. It is a shame that with such a well finished sunny rear garden deck, there was no facility for outdoor eating or drinking just some low chairs and no table. The rugs needed vacuuming & the stairs were full of dust. All the skirting boards needed wiping. Beds were comfortable which so often isn't the case. The style of the property was true to it's description as Art Deco which was nice. We were pleased to find a washer dryer also. We did feel on arrival that the property was not clean enough. The kitchen door handles (moulded into the doors) had grease and dirt on them...only the fronts had been wiped. In the kitchen there were bits of food down the side of the cooker and the floor was sticky, while the bathroom had large amounts of dust in the corners. Some things about the house were plain odd, like having to stand on the bed in one of the bedrooms to operate the light switch while there was a fair bit of noise from vehicles passing by, not helped by windows that didn't close. Despite having a combination boiler, at some point in the night the power to it was cut off, meaning no hot water, though it came back on in the morning. The location was good.

The bedrooms had plenty of wardrobe space and hangers as well as very comfortable beds with memory foam mattresses and plenty of pillows. As previously noted the windows are not double glazed but the heating was left on and so it was very cosy. There was a little traffic noise in the morning and early evening but literally just for an hour or so and nothing major. The only very minor points were that some of the grouting on the floor tiles in the bathroom needs to be fixed as it’s crumbling under foot and as previously mentioned there are no locks on either of the bathrooms but that certainly wouldn’t stop us from staying again!
