  • "Hi, Thanks for your email we had a lovely break in your beautiful cottage, we have however had issues with no hot water in the kitchen, we have boiled kettles as and when we needed to do dishes, this may of incurred an issue when we came to mop before we left."

Please rest assured this did not distract us from our stay as it was only my sister and myself but felt it could of had more problems if a family had stayed, we did try to email contact yourselves with no luck..

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry for the problem with the hot water in the kitchen. There should be a sign saying you have to wait a minute or so for the hot water to get to the kitchen. I am sorry if this sign was not there. Please let Menai Holidays know of a problem like this as soon as you can. They will contact us and we can contact you to fix the problem quickly. Property Owner

  • "This is a second time at this cottage the only problem we had was each visit there was no hot water in the kitchen."

Other than this we had a great stay again and will be coming back .

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am very sorry for any problems with hot water to the kitchen. There should be a sign saying you have to wait a minute or so for the hot water to get to the kitchen and checking with those currently staying at the property it was working and they assured me it was piping hot. Generally, It can be a good idea to let Menai Holidays know early on in a stay if something isn't right as it can often be fixed quickly, like in this case. Property Owner

  • "The cottages are set in a beautiful, peaceful location with a short walk to a small beach."

We really enjoyed our stay at number 5, it was very clean and really nicely decorated. I would say that it is ideal for a young family but that it may be too small for 4 adults as the living area is quite compact. Short drive to supermarkets (Holyhead) restaurants and takeaways.

  • "Great little property."

We stayed here with our two small kids. It would be too cramped for 4 adults. 100m to a quiet beach, 2 miles to Trearddur Bay. Owners/cleaners need to put on summer duvets! Would stay again and would recommend to friends

  • "A really lovely clean cottage."

We loved it. Although the six steps were mentioned the steepness was not clear enough. We managed to assist my 93 year old Mum by using the back door and the steps at the side. It may also be worth mentioning that the beach is not open to dogs 1 May to 30 September. Other walks were available so it did not detract too much from our stay.

Good facilities. We found it to have everything we needed. Just a two minute walk to the beach. Coastal walks straight from the door. Conveniently located to access the supermarkets and takeaways in Holyhead. We would definitely come again.

  • "Stunning location."

So peaceful. Suitable for a couple rather than a family of 4 simply due to size of kitchen and the sofas. The property was clean except for some dog hair on bathroom skirtings but you expect something due to the property being pet friendly. Bathroom is freezing due to a damaged window. Would be helpful if the towel radiator worked as it would allow some heat to circulate. If you are looking for a quiet beautiful location this is the place to be and still close to all amenities.

  • "We had a lovely stay , bedding and towels top quality , everything you possibly need , we were a bit worried about cleanliness regarding some of the previous reviews, but we needn’t have been as it was all clean ."

I only rated 4 not because of the cottage but due to annoying but essential road works outside , it prevented us from nipping over to South Stack easily , we had to take the Holyhead detour , we got to see the Prince and Princess of Wales whilst there , they visited the Holyhead lifeboat Station . Altogether a very nice stay , There was a slight problem with dogs being left off their leads in the front field , so be aware of it .

  • "Because of illness we were unable to go and the owner refused to change our dates."

We arranged with Sykes for our friends to go instead so these ratings are for them, not us. They only stayed for a few days but they said that digger works nearby were quite noisy and felt that we should have been informed in advance!

We were very sorry to hear about your illness but we understand from Menai that you opted not to take out insurance to cover you against cancellation arising from such issues as illness. As we were only informed of your cancellation two weeks before your arrival, it did not give us enough time to make alternative arrangements so we could help you hence we were not able to agree to change your dates. • "Our stay was completely ruined as we had to live on micro and grill meals all week due to the oven being absolutely filthy."

You could tell it had not been cleaned for a very long time, my husband had to scrub the grill pan in order for us to use it but neither of us were willing to tackle the oven as it was so bad. I have photographs that I am willing to share if anyone wants to see them and I left a note for the cleaner telling her/him how disgusting it was. We will certainly not be returning and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for your feedback which was of course disappointing to receive. As the owner of the property , I went out to the property the weekend after receiving your feedback and ensured a thorough clean of the oven though my own feeling was that it was not as bad as you described and certainly it had not been mentioned by previous guests who had been at the property in the preceding weeks to your stay. It might have been helpful all round, if you had mentioned your concerns on your arrival at the property or as soon as was practical afterwards, so we we could have sent out the cleaning team straight away to clean the oven and to try and ensure you had an enjoyable stay. As it was we did not receive your feedback until after you had left and so were unable to rectify any issues until then. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely such a shame your cleaner is letting you down , because whatever she/he is doing it’s not cleaning , first thing was the toilet, it had other people’s poo all under the seat it was down the side and sprayed over the toilet brush box , the floor in the bathroom was filthy, this gets you looking round the rest , inside the sink cupboard it was wet and slimy the little cupboard by the cooker ,the kitchen bin had waste food dried all over the top , the kitchen floor was also very dirty, under one of the single beds was a white plastic box that looked filthy and a steam mop under the other that also needed a good clean , the hover smells disgusting when you use it , it definitely needs a service , I noticed these were all top quality products that were not being looked after , I spent the first day cleaning , this should not be happening,I left this property a lot cleaner than I found it ."

So the next family wouldn’t have the same as we did .

Thank you for your feedback which whilst very disappointing to receive was very useful and we have had a thorough review with our cleaning team. I genuinely feel we have now covered the issues mentioned in your review. These absolutely should never have happened and I am very sorry they have affected the enjoyment of your stay. The only thing I would say, is that if this happens again (hopefully not in this property!) please contact Menai as soon as you can, so the owners can try and rectify any issues/concerns straight away and ensure you have an enjoyable holiday. • "Lovely cottage in a glorious location with picture windows to the front."

150m walk down the road to a beautiful cove( no dogs allowed in summer) with the coastal footpath alongside so great for morning dog walks . Very picturesque. The cottage was quiet, comfortable and well furnished. Missing washing up liquid but dishwasher and tablets supplied. Would recommend and stay again. We even saw puffins on South Stack so very happy and enjoyed lots of coastal walking in the locality. Lovely meals at Sea Shanty and White Eagle. Would have happily stayed longer than our week!

  • "Would definitely book this again - the cottage could have been cleaned a little better / mould on blind in bathroom (I know this can’t be helped but mould and mildew spray removes it) floor could have done with another vacuum and good mopping in all corners and bits and bobs were a little dusty."

Fridge/ freezer only small so can’t imagine staying for longer than 4 days in summer as would have to restock every couple days!

  • "On arrival I found dirty bed linen on top of the washing machine, now I understand everyone sometimes forget things and make little mistakes but I feel in these Covid times this is really not good enough."

On the whole the cottage was clean, bed linen and towels very good quality, kitchen and bathroom clean but skirting boards could do with a good dust. There was a problem with the hot water in the kitchen but on phoning found it was just the taps plumbed in wrong way, just a note in the information pack would be useful. On the whole I had a lovely holiday, the cottage was in a great position, beautifully decorated and comfortable and although I had these small problems I would rebook the cottage.

  • "A great stay."

Very clean, great location and fab outdoor communal gardens/space. My only tip for future visitors is not to order a big food delivery for when you arrive due to minimal kitchen cupboard space. We didn't realise and 90% of our delivery needed to be stored in the lounge area. No big deal, but something to bear in mind.

  • "The cottage was lovely and because the cottage sits on the hill the elevated position gives fantastic views over the surrounding countryside."

The cleanliness of the cottage left much to be desired, the skirting boards looked as if they had not been cleaned in months. The mug I used upon arrival was not clean, it had the imprint of someones mouth on it and had a crust of something around the mouth imprint, in this current pandemic this was not something I wished to see, this resulted in having to put all the crockery through the dishwasher before use. On checking that we had not left anything behind when vacating the cottage I was horrified to find scrunched up tissues under one of the single beds as well as a packet of unopened tissues. On top of the wardrobes it was thick with dust. The beach at Porthdafarch which is lovely is not dog friendly during the summer months meaning that we could not walk to the beach and take our dog with us. I think this is something that customers should be aware of when booking their holiday.
