As its name suggests this is a long sandy beach, which is backed by dunes, situated on the lovely north-west coastline on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. This mile-long beach is ideal for safe bathing, windsurfing, surfing, sea canoeing and sailing, and between Easter and the end of October it has a shop, café and bistro open to the public. Close by is the small unassuming village of Llanfaethlu, which provides a local shop and an excellent coffee house, whilst nearby Church Bay boasts a superb seafood restaurant and a prize-winning cafe. Wales' only working windmill is within easy reach, while the surrounding countryside and coastline both provide excellent fishing, birdwatching, scenic walks, biking and climbing. Enjoy the island’s golf courses, Anglesey Sea Zoo, the historic town of Beaumaris with its medieval castle and array of shops and restaurants, an exciting boat fishing trip or Plas Newydd NT mansion and gardens.
