  • "Perfect stay for us, we were so impressed with everything provided and so happy with the quality of the accommodation."

We drove up from Cornwall with two children and it was such a relief to be able to settle straight into our new home for the week. The view is even better than the images show and the location is great if you want a feeling of seclusion that’s not too far from all the required amenities.

Thanks for the feedback Rob. We are glad you had a nice time. Hope to welcome you another time. Property Owner

  • "The only thing to mention on the negative side would be a better mattress in the twin room."

If it's for kids no problem but for adults, too flimsy. The rest about the accommodation was wonderful. Definitely would return l.

Thank you for the feedback Mark. Those mattresses are of an unusual size but we will look to replace them. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "Our recent stay at 11 Mansion View was lovely, we have great views onto Loch Long."

The caravan/lodge was very clean & well equipped, the site itself was also very clean. You do need a car to get around, and the site itself is built on a hill, so there are a couple of inclines to keep you fit. All in all, I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for the feedback Heather. It's the hill location that lends itself to the nice views but yes, a car would be nice when you just want to get there without the exertion. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the view was magnificent."

Perhaps the only suggestions would be a file with the following information: Nearest Doctor/Hospital/Police/Fire Services and phone numbers and there appears to be no Reception office/Site Manager on site. Times of the restaurant and shops also pamphlets showing places of interest in and around the area would also be helpful. Plus disposal of rubbish which is at the entrance to the site at the bottom of the hill. We were supplied with only one toilet roll and no additional rubbish bin bags Visitors especially those with mobility issues should be advised that the parking is on a steep slope. We were only supplied with one toilet roll and no rubbish bin bags. Plus we had to dispose of the rubbish down the hill.

  • "Unfortuantely we had multiple problems with this place."

First off, we had specifically chosen a place with enclosed garden so we could allow our dog to go outside. There was no enclosure. Sykes did apologise and deal with the issue to some degree and we were able to fathom our own enclosure. Our next major problem was the bed. It was so uncomfortable when I sat on it the I sunk straight to the bottom. My wife found it extremely uncomfortable as well so we ended up completely removing the bed and mattress and sleeping on the floor with some duvets for the week. Something I've never done in all my years staying in different places. It was clearly a very low quality mattress. I find it surprising no-one else has commented on this. We did contact Sykes. The owner ordered a mattress topper to be delivered however it made little difference-he nor Sykes followed up with us to see if it was any better. I checked on Amazon it appeared to be the cheapest one available for next day delivery. Other thicker ones were available for slightly more cost that likely would have been better. There was also no washing machine or dishwasher-for the price I would have expected at least a dishwasher. The kitchen counter top was small (which is to be expected) but the precious little space was taken up mostly by the microwave-this could easily be remedied with a wall mount. There were other small issues like overly squeaky doors and no coat hangers at the front door so no ideal place to hang wet coats when you got back from a walk. Other problems we had were no displayed internet password so I had to call Sykes for it and the vacuum cleaner filter got blocked because it had the wrong bags. I ended up opening and declogging all the hairs on the filter which was something I really didn't enjoy doing and shouldn't have had to. So overall, I would not recommend staying here.

Thanks for the feedback Dominic. Let me address each of your concerns in turn. Mansion View was never described as having an 'enclosed patio'; but, as of today, we have installed a gate to keep pets in. The mattress - it is less than 6 months old and has no damage or marks. You will indeed be surprised no other guest complained. After your complaint I had a topper delivered the next morning. Contrary to your claim it wasn't the 'cheapest on Amazon'. It was the only available for delivery the next morning. There isn't a washing machine or dishwasher, simply because the kitchen is compact. We never claimed these are provided. Kitchen counter top is small but it is sufficient for 4 people on holiday. Internet password, door access code and a house guide were all emailed to you. When we spoke, you admitted you had simply missed the email. Vacuum cleaner - we do not ask guests to vacuum the place. Just a simple tidy up and all rubbish in the bins would suffice. May I humbly suggest that you did not read the description for our chalet properly and came here expecting things that weren't there and never advertised as such in the first place! You also did not check your emails - if you did, the house guide provided there would have spelt out, again, what was provided as well as my contact details with the clear instruction to call 24 hours a day if you have any issues. You then proceeded to make a series of complaints, including ones you haven't mentioned, in your feedback. We now have an enclosed patio, based on your feedback. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Great stay in a beautiful area."

A car is essential though especially if anyone has mobility problems. The site is well maintained and neighbours friendly. Wee boat ferry across to Gourock was great, trips to Benmore Botanical Gardens ( a bit of a drive), Loch Lomond and Helensburgh were all worth the trip. Owner of the property kept good communication with us and was responsive and helpful .

About the location

KILCREGGAN

Garelochhead 8 miles, Helensburgh 15 miles, Loch Lomond 19 miles.

Sitting at the southern tip of the Rosneath Peninsula, Kilcreggan is host to a collection of impressive houses dating from the days when many wealthy Glasgow merchants had summer homes away from the city, and the popularity of the steamship allowed easy access from the southern shore of the Clyde estuary. The pier at Kilcreggan is the only remaining Victorian pier on the Clyde and is still in use, with a passenger ferry crossing the river to Gourock. There are a number of local shops and cafes in the village and also a few miles along the coast in Rosneath, while the nearby village of Cove is home to the spectacular Linn Botanic Gardens. The peninsula boasts spectacular mountain scenery with excellent woodland and coastal walking and cycling. There are several options for dining out on the peninsula, including the The Creggans Bar, with a larger selection in the Helensburgh area, including pubs, takeaways and cafes.
