About the location

Mauchline

Ayr 12 miles.

The lovely village of Mauchline quietly nestles amidst glorious hills and farmland and is ideally situated for exploring the stunning scenery of Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. The village is most recognised as the home of Robert Burns, who lived and farmed in the area with his wife Jean Armour for many years. The house they shared is now a museum and forms part of the Burns Trail. The Royal Troon and Turnberry links courses are both nearby, whilst the historic seaside resort of Ayr is just 12 miles away, offering excellent shopping, bars, restaurants and sandy beaches. Visit the spectacular 18th century Culzean Castle with its picturesque cliff-top setting, or enjoy the 600 acre country park complete with deer park, swan pond, adventure playground and delightful beaches. A truly delightful part of Scotland with something for all tastes.

An excellent cottage which served as a great base to explore the local area and Glasgow. Felt like home from home. Very comfortable and well equipped.

Mr Budding, Oldham, October 2013

Good base for exploring the West side of Scotland, and the cottage was very comfortable and clean.

Mr Holleran, Leeds, August 2013

Lovely clean and well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. A good base for touring the area. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Mrs Whiteside, Preston, June 2013

The cottage was the best we have stayed in. The owners were very friendly and on hand to give any help when needed. The area is very pretty with good walking and plenty to do. There is a very good pub serving excellent meals in the nearby village of Sorn. We had a really relaxing break and would recommend it to anyone.

Mr Kennington, Brigg, June 2013
