  • "Heatherbank is a lovely property and immaculately clean."

Firstly the inside: good size living area with internet tv which includes Netflix and Prime. The kitchen area is well equipped with a large fridge freezer, hob & oven, toaster kettle, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and air fryer and plenty of cups, plates etc. there was also basic supplies of oil, salt, pepper, kitchen towels, tinfoil etc. Bedrooms were all of a good size as were the shower rooms. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of towels supplied. Outside was a large seating area with gas fire pit on the table. On upper area which has lovely views, was a large hot tub (newly installed the day before we arrived) beside which was a further table and chairs, just below this area is a large stone built BBQ. The owner Dougie is very friendly and attentive and took time to explain how everything worked. He is doing a copious amount of work in the garden which doesn’t infringe on present guests and when finished will included a large decked area further up the garden and even a golf practise area, would love to come back and see the finished product ! Had no negatives with this property and even the short rough track is perfectly accessible if driven slowly. If walking to the village it takes approx 12-15min and there is a good taxi service if you prefer. Had a lovely meal in The Anchor hotel and delicious carry out from the Chinese which sadly is closing end of September. Would definitely recommend this cottage .

  • "Property on initial assessment was very good but as the week progressed small things added up to spoil the assessment."

Property sleeps 8 but only a 2 seater and 3 seater sofa in the lounge area. No sky tv as advertised and tv reception poor/ non existent. Bar takes up too much space. Kitchen facilities lacking decent pans/frying pan, sharp knives, oven dishes etc. Hot tub smelt after 5 days so was unused after this. Views amazing and with a little more attention to detail in the property would receive 5 stars every time.

  • "We had a great week at Heatherbank, helped by the lovely weather."

Property was lovely. Clean, plenty of space and well maintained. Kitchen was well kitted out with plenty of cups, glasses, plates etc. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were very clean also. Dougie was available by phone if any issues arose. Only problem we had, which is why I gave 4 stars, was the track up to the house. It was steep and very uneven. My children, who did the driving, were scared they would damage their cars. If driving a 4x4 it wouldn't be a problem though.

Driveway isnt for the nervous driver. The singular thing i have to find fault with is the bridge on the driveway needing repair but the timber had been delivered and was ready to go. House was immaculate and extremely well equiped.

The pictures actually didn’t do it justice. The views are amazing and the cottage has everything you need. We had some issues with the electrics tripping and we couldn’t get the lights outside on. This impacted on the hot tub use as you had to navigate decked stairs in the dark. Certainly not for the infirm. The local pub was about a 15 minute walk and the food was good. We will be back for sure and the assistance prior to arriving from the owner was excellent.

  • "We have had a brilliant holiday based at Heatherbank."

It was far enough out of the busyness of normal life but close enough to access things we needed. The setting of the house is quite deceptive when you drive through the housing estate, but when you go up that short lane it feels like the middle of the countryside. However, that lane is quite tricky to drive up and we found ourselves taking a deep breath every time we crossed the bridge and climbed the corner in the car. Once up there, the house itself is perfect. Our party consisted of two families of four (8 people in total). The spaciousness of the property and the 3 bathrooms all meant that we never felt crowded. Everything was clean, tidy and in good working condition and the kitchen was pretty well stocked. The decor was all in good taste. The hot tub was an extra bonus and we enjoyed sitting in it in the evenings looking up at the stars after a busy day out and about enjoying the beautiful scenery around. All topped off by a very helpful and friendly host. We are keeping this house as a favourite.

Property was very spacious, the images don't do it justice. Views were fantastic, very quiet and peaceful. The track up is a bit daunting the first time but like anything once you've got it mastered it becomes second nature. Exterior improvements are currently in progress to the rear garden so not all the exterior lighting was working but this in no way impacted on the stay. Have already recommended to family members and would definitely stay there again.

The access track is really small with no passing places and was unfortunately being dug up for installation of a new water main which felt like being on a construction site. Left early mainly due to illness, but also noise / no hot tub.

If there was anything to recommend it would be an arrangement with recycling and rubbish collection. It was overflowing by the time we left as we were in directly after other guests. Also the parking situation with the neighbour should be advised, the neighbour came to the door saying we were parking in a used area. Apart from that, AMAZING

  • "I visited this beautiful place with 5 of my friends for a weekend getaway for my 25th birthday, and I must say, it did not disappoint."

The house was immaculate, spacious, comfortable, and oh so warm in the middle of January. The living room was incredibly comfortable, with a good working TV (and Netflix)! The surrounding area was a beautiful place to walk about in, with Loch Long and Loch Lomond a short drive away. But now onto the main attraction: the hot tub. Oh the hot tub was a dream come true. The lights leading up it were beautiful. We must have sat in there for many hours each day without a care in the world (despite it being the middle of January!). And when I had any questions or potential issues, I just sent over a message to Mr Bloomfield and he came over within hours to fix it! The whole experience was amazing, and went well beyond any expectations I might've had. Truly, one of the best weekends I've had in my life. Thank you :)

The cottage is spotless and has large airy rooms. The property is quite out of the way from the small town in which it is situated but it's only a few minutes in the car or a 15 to 20 minute walk. We got stuck trying to get up the access road on our day of arrival as it was wet and dark at the time and the car was very heavy with supplies but we emptied the car and were able to get up to the house. I would put some hooks for coats in the hallway and some hooks in the bathrooms but all in all it was a home from home and we enjoyed our Christmas dinner in the lovely dining area. Thank you!

We appreciated the friendly welcome from Dougie (and the welcome pack !) It's an easy 15 minute walk to the village which has 2 mini markets and a decent pub - The Anchor Inn is a friendly place with good pub grub Also recommend the Chinese takeaway in the village There is a local bus service which runs every half hour or so into Helensburgh (20 min journey) Note that there is not a freezer in the kitchen although the additional fridge in the outside shed has a freezer compartment. About the location

GARELOCHHEAD

Helensburgh 7 miles; Loch Lomond 11 miles; Glasgow 30 miles.

The village of Garelochhead developed as a tourist resort with the steamer sailings from Glasgow from the 1820s, and then further with the arrival of the West Highland Line to Fort William. Sitting at the head of the Gare Loch, a sea loch running into the River Clyde at its southern end, the village offers a selection of pubs and shops. The loch itself is ideal for sailing and sea angling and is home to Faslane Naval Base and its associated peace camp. Surrounding the village are many Munros (mountains over 3000ft) and the surrounding hillsides are popular with walkers throughout the year. With Loch Lomond only a short drive away, with its beautiful scenery and renowned golf courses, Garelochhead is an ideal base to explore this dramatic and scenic part of the country.
