The village of Kilmartin sits at the heart of Kilmartin Glen, one of the most important prehistoric sites on the Scottish mainland. Within 6 miles there are rock carvings, standing stones, burial cairns and the remains of the Iron-Age fort at Dunadd, the home of the first kings of Scotland. The village of Kilmartin is home to a church, post office, shop, pub, a castle and the Kilmartin House Museum with visitor centre next door, housing a café and a shop selling local crafts. The town of Lochgilphead is 8 miles away, offering a good selection of cafes and small shops selling a range of goods, foods and crafts, while the village of Inveraray, home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, is within driving distance.

Kilmartin 2 miles. A lovely cosy, semi detached, character Kilmartin cottage, situated in Kilmartin Glen, just 5 minutes walk from the standing stones of Kilmartin. This charming single storey Kilmartin cottage makes a warm, welcoming holiday home for all the family. Traditionally and tastefully furnished throughout, this Kilmartin cottage includes a traditional Scottish "box bed", a woodburner in the sitting room and patio doors out onto the garden, with wonderful views out towards the mountains beyond. This is a superb holiday area, with boating and fishing (permit required) on the Lochs, and fantastic walks and cycle ways right on the doorstep. The village of Kilmartin, known for its history and archaeology, offers a shop, pub, hotel and museum, as well as a fascinating churchyard and castle. Easily reached from this Kilmartin cottage is Crinan, with a pretty harbour, canal and coast to explore. The towns of Lochgilphead and Oban are also an easy drive. A terrific Kilmartin cottage, a welcoming retreat at any time of year.

The beautiful and interesting location. The lady who owned the property was very welcoming and the neigbour's dog loved playing with our dog. The house was very dog friendly and the lovely living room with a lovely view. All in all very relaxing.
