Shop across road open early/late and had all necessities with a friendly smile. Owners were very friendly too and all was explained regarding new cleaning measures for everyone’s safety. The property was comfortable, however there were young children in the upper property, and on hard floors it was quite noisy at times. We were also disappointed to find that the village pub described in the property information as within walking distance is currently shut and the nearest pub where dogs are welcome is 9 miles away.

Unfortunately, we could feel the springs and it was too firm and unforgiving for our elderly bones! A mattress topper would have made all the difference. Sadly, this spoilt what would have otherwise been excellent accommodation and we really appreciated the warm friendly welcome and welcome pack.

Sykes Holiday Cottage site was easy to use. I found the accommodation in the area that we wanted. Booked and paid for it on line. We than received confirmation emails, and details for making contact with the house owner to pick up key. On arrival we were delighted with everything, the location in the village, the house was just as described it was clean, warm and spacious, everything we needed was there, pleased to even find baking bowls etc. We were also so touched at the welcome pack - milk, tea , sugar and the extra touch prosecco and shortbread. Many thanks to Iain the owner, we were using house as a base to stay in for new year, whilst spending time with family in village over new year, but it is an ideal location for people wanting to see the surrounding area. The local shop had everything that you could require .There is also a local post office and a very nice tea room. But unfortunately we did have some problems which we found to be very disappointing. On arrival we discovered that the gas fire didn’t work but the issue was resolved very speedily and the gas fitter arrived on the Sunday morning and fixed it.We found the beds very hard and uncomfortable, there was a lot of mould in the bathroom and the kitchen cupboards housing the cutlery and other cooking utensils smelt dreadfully of mould and damp.We did point this out to the owner so hopefully something will be done to rectify it but it was very off putting in fact the smell was so overpowering every time you opened the doors that I ended up leaving the things that I used out on the table after I had washed everything before use. As this was my first experience of your holiday facilities I did find it overall disappointing.

The owners live next door if you need to know anything. Also all the shops we went into in Taynuilt village were only too pleased to see you and were very friendly and they didn't charge exorbitant prices. The actual area is absolutely beautiful. When we went to Oban on the Sunday the sun was shining brightly and it was so bright and colourful everywhere with the CalMac boats going off to the Islands. Word of warning - book in advance if you want to go to Mull. We had various days out up and down the coast and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Also made a nostalgic trip to Inveraray which my late Mum had loved so much.
