  • "We were looking for somewhere clean, cosy and dog friendly- that’s exactly what we got."

Very comfortable beds, lovely warm and cosy cottage…hot tub a massive hit with my sons and the dogs loved having a safe garden to run around in. Christine and her husband were welcoming hosts and having Dottie the pig at the bottom of the garden was just lovely

  • "Positives Spacious and warm cottage, comfy bed and lovely outlook and countryside."

Negatives The cottage needs a deep clean and painting. The chrome towel rail, in the main bathroom, is mostly rusty. Signs of mould behind the main door, bedroom window sills and bathroom. The kitchen appliances needed a clean. Dusty on the wall by the side of the cooker hood. Compared to other cottages we have stayed in this rates poorly.

  • "Disappointing."

Total lack of warmth and general upkeep to the cottage. No WiFi, the sofa is dirty, the floor is in need of revarnishing, the shower trickles water on all settings. The patio doors were filthy from the previous occupant, no tea towel, a broken dustpan and brush. We were given 1black bin bag for the whole of our seven day duration. No welcome gift as stated in the advertisement. The guttering outside is broken so when ot rained it just poured down the outside of the building. The garden is unkept, the grass in need of mowing and the fencing broken. No hot tub for two days due to what I was told a system error. The advertisement states ‘charming’, but there is definitely none of that. I doubt very much we will be using Sykes again and no I would not recommend the company.

  • "This is my second time at Angus cottage."

The setting is beautiful, the beds are very comfortable, and the tranquility and peace is invaluable. Perhaps not suitable for those dependant on good WiFi or data signal or who like more than basic free-sat provision, but that's one of the reasons I love it - the disconnect from tech and screens! Being a returning guest I know to bring a few essentials with me, but it would be helpful if basics like cooking oil, salt and pepper, and a few more dishwasher tablets, were included. But that's nitpicking on my part, I love my stays on the farm and look forward to returning

The cottage was spacious. Lovely views. The hot tub was the perfect ending to the day. An abundance of wildlife can be viewed from the cottage window. Coastal walks within a couple of miles were another bonus. We would definitely recommend this cottage to our friends.

  • "This cottage is very dated."

The inside is needing modernised the couch and chair are not comfortable to sit on.No view .The garden were you sit out the grass hadn't been cut.The ramp you walk up into the house had no safety hand rail. The bath had no rubber mat so wasn't safe to shower..You have no Wi-Fi and to say it's intermittent is very mis leading No notice to tell you how things worked .

Thank you for providing feedback on your stay. I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't up to your standard. The property is accurately portrayed through the photographs online, we would urge customers to take a look to make sure it does suit them. We would disagree that the furniture is uncomfortable and haven't had comments like this before, but can understand that everyone else's needs are different. We would like to note that the property may not be suitable for customers who may have mobility issues. Due to the location of the property, the WiFi is intermittent, it has been installed but unfortunately, we cannot get a better service at the moment. We wished that you had mentioned any issues you had during your stay as we are always happy to help. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Angus cottage."

It was perfect for a family of 3, clean comfortable and safe for a 4 yr old to explore. The hot tub and farm animals were a big hit, especially Poppy the pig! The owners where quick to answer any questions before we arrived so we knew ahead what was provided and what we needed to bring. Whilst other cottages we’ve stayed at provide basic cooking foodstuff this one didn’t but we knew ahead so that didn’t bother us and wouldn’t put us off booking again. There’s a washing machine and hot tub but initially nowhere to hang wet clothes, however, when we asked the owner he got us a laundry rack so we where sorted pretty quickly. The area is rural and beautiful and with 2 lovely beaches a short drive away - rockcliffe and sandyhills. Dumfries is a 30 drive away with a Morrisons and Aldi and there is a lovely farm shop half way there if you want to get local produce or special dietary stuff.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angus Cottage."

The owners were very accommodating and extremely friendly. We couldn’t work the hot tub and I was within minutes given instruction on where I was going wrong by the owner. No problem was to small for virtually instant correction. For a working farmer he was always ready to have a chat and see how the holiday was going and suggestions on local attractions. I without hesitation recommend the Angus cottage and also the other cottages in the complex. We will be booking Angus again next year. The hot tub was fabulous. A deep thank you to our hosts see you next year

All in all the perfect relaxing holiday that we couldn't pick fault with if we tried. Already planning for next year! Thank you.

  • "Peaceful and relaxing in a friendly and dog friendly environment."

Lovely clean and well stocked cottage, the only fault we could find was the fact that we could not connect to the wi fi...... not sure if this was because of bad signal or what, but our phones could not access the IP account. Other than that the holiday was great and good weather too enabled us to enjoy the local estuary and great clean beaches nearby. Covid meant that several places we would have liked to see were closed, so we have an excuse to return! But the young Red Kites put on a fab display for us nearly every day we were there and its great to see bats flying and listen to the owls hooting at night time.
