Castor dates back to Roman times and nowadays plays host to 2 village pubs and a village shop and coffee shop. Just five miles away, Peterborough enjoys good shopping facilities with precincts, out of town shopping and an undercover market. Peterborough Cathedral has a beautiful 12th century painted ceiling and museum where you can join a ghost tour if you dare! Just a short drive from Castor, you can take a trip on a steam train along the Nene Valley Railway, or visit Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre with water mill, tractor rides and animals. Explore Ferry Meadows Country Park with wildlife, watersports and Roman remains, or medieval Longthorpe Tower, which is owned by English Heritage.
