  • "Very well equipped lodge, great patio area with hot tub, sun beds and bbq, unfortunately we didn’t get the weather to fully utilise."

The lodge was described as next to reception, it is actually part of the same building, it wasn’t quite as private as we would have liked but we still enjoyed our stay.

  • "It must be noted, that this accom is not near reception, but it is part of the reception building, we could hear all the conversations of guests arriving and departing, there was only a door between the reception/office space to where we were accomadated, listing is not 100 % accurate."

Also, when we were cleaning on the last day there, we stripped the bed, only to find under the pillow case, a soaked blood stained pillow - Germs ?, also tissues on the floor behind the bed stead !!!!!!!. All in all, a nice place to rest and relax, had all the facils that a house would have and met all our needs for a short stay

  • "Highly dissatisfied with our weeks stay at church view."

Sofas are incredibly uncomfortable, luckily there was a tv in the bedroom, we spent evenings watching tv in bed. The hot tub added a lovely touch to our stay, however, this is extremely dirty and full of flies, when I asked the reception team for a net, they said the hot tub guy will be round to clean it and suck the flies out, he did come round to the lodge, unfortunately only flicking a few out. On our first night, we had a small issue with the plug in the bath getting stuck and we were told by maintenance team to simply use the public showers outside if this weren’t fixable, I was immediately taken back by this as I would have booked a camping trip at a cheaper price! We have previously stayed in other lodges on site which we were very happy with, as per our re visit now with a dog. Church view is actually a lodge split in half, divided by just a door with reception, I didn’t have a problem with this, as stated in the description upon booking, however, they charge just as much for this as they do for the other lodges. The worst part of our stay had to be the awful burning smell from the industrial building across from the lodge, this is super intense and meant we couldn’t even use the garden, we were lucky to have a lovely hot week (30 degrees plus), and felt VERY disheartened that using the garden was made impossible without coughing, not to mention horrible for our dogs health! Although, sitting in the garden was extremely uncomfortable anyway due to the wooden furniture, sunloungers may as well not even be in place, horrendous comfort! Cafe food is worth the star I have given, incredible food and reasonably priced. Won’t be returning!

  • "We were disappointed as when I booked we thought all the cabins were together."

Church view is joined with reception and was very busy and we could hear talking and laughing from the staff, we were beside the gates on the caravan and camping site. the hot tub was amazing and lovely and warm, nice garden furniture but these were very uncomfortable as these were made of wood and their was no cushions. The cabin was big and lovely size rooms, but their was a lot of dust on the walls and skirting boards, under the sofas and bed. also cobwebs all over. one of the sofa had leather missing and these are sofa beds and were uncomfortable as well. The kitchen was lovely with everything you needed If I had known the cabin was where it was I would not have booked it, but your web site did not mention that the cabin was joined to reception and beside the gated area which is busy all the time.

Thank you for the feedback. We totally appreciate that customers should be aware that this property is next to the reception. With that in mind, we have added a note on to the website. We are looking into refurbishing Church View once the busy season is over. Once again thank you for your valued feedback. Property Owner

As usual we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the facilities are excellent. The staff on site are friendly and helpful and we always love the welcome pack of wine, chocolate and fresh eggs. The only issue worth mentioning is that the door between the lounge and bedroom doesn’t have a working catch which meant our dogs could push open the door and sneak into the bedroom when we weren’t looking..

Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to my work pattern but will definitely be looking to rebook. Having an enclosed garden was great for the dogs. Even though this lodge is attached onto reception area we heard no noise what so ever. The staff here we found to be very polite and helpful with information about local walking routes. Only a short walk in to the village and a short drive to Oakham. The lodge was lovely and clean for arrival. The host provided a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, coffee pods for the coffee machine, prosecco and fresh eggs. The lodge was extremely well equipped with tv's in both the lounge and bedroom, CD player/radio, Wi-Fi access and a well equipped kitchen, with induction hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as kettle, dolce gusto coffee machine and toaster. Also provided was a cleaning hamper with cleaning products, washing up sponge, cloth and dishwasher tablets. The bed was extremely comfortable and a fan is provided for those warmer nights. The bathroom was well equipped with a over the bath shower which is both hot and very powerful, with plenty of towels provided and fresh bath robes. The hottub was fantastic, well maintained and hot for arrival and maintained daily during our stay. The patio area also had table and chairs with a parasol, sun loungers and a bbq. Despite other reviews about noise with this lodge being attached to the reception building we had no complaints, yes you could hear a bit of chatter and laughter from reception, I wouldn't consider it noisy, and this was only between 8am-6pm not early in the morning and late at night and we found it extremely peaceful. Will definitely be returning again.

The cabin was clean and welcoming and although it is adjoined to the reception area, we hardly heard any sound from there at all. People do walk up the slope outside the kitchen window to access reception but that didn't bother us at all. Being able to take our two dogs was a must for us and we really appreciated the fantastic dog walk area and access to walk over the field. The self contained nature of the outside area and the fully enclosed fencing and privacy was also a plus point. The cabin was plenty warm enough and the bed was really comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with good quality pans, crockery and cutlery and the prosecco and chocolates upon arrival was a nice touch. We had a takeaway from The Rutland Kitchen which is on site and the quality of food was very good and competitively priced. We would definitely recommend it and will be coming back.

The only problems we had was 1) The BBQ wasn’t clean. We wanted to use it so we decided to clean it ourselves but the produce on the grill would not budget so we cooked our food in the oven. 2) there wasn’t enough Pyrex dishes for the oven, it was okay as there was only 2 of us but the lodge can sleep up to 6 people (2 sofa beds) I think it needs some more dishes/ utensils. The hot tub was cleaned 2 times when we was there which is great! The cafe is 3 steps away and does lovely food. I would point out that it is attached to the reception so you can hear everything being said over there. The pool was okay was dirty along the walk ways as people didn’t take off their shoes. Make sure to go out the back of the site. Google takes you through the farm (we went that way) it is full of steel and wood ect so can end up with popped tyres! Other than that a good stay and we would come back again.

Very dissapointed with no wifi, needed it to check work emails but when i went into reception twice and said the wifi wont connect i was told it was "nothing to do with us" and to just try it outside and see if it works The Hot tub cover was broken and very heavy so impossible to lift over on my own - the pole that you pull it off with was broken and not attached to the cover so was extremely difficult to take the top off, had to just take half off and leave half on The outdoor bulb was popped so i went to reception to say i needed it for the hot tub when it gets dark. They came to fix it however it still did not work, so i went back to reception to say it still doesnt work but nothing was done about this The lodge is actually only half the size , the other half is reception and i wasnt aware of this. Lodge was in a completely different place to the 'luxury lodges' which was a massive let down for me as i wouldnt have booked if i knew it was attached to reception Interior door in the living room leads to the reception but is locked, and can hear everything which was not ideal Terrible bedding and lighting in all rooms Nice and clean but will not be returning

A lovely welcome pack awaited me on my arrival with eggs, coffee and tea, and chocolates and wine.. The site itself is beautifully kept with on site walking facilities for dogs, and a tea room on site which provided delicious meals. I had their big breakfast for my lunch on my last day there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff at Reception were always friendly and helpful in answering any queries. The site is not far from local attractions being only a 15 minute drive from Rutland Water. As the cottage is dog friendly, I would suggest a couple more rugs on the floor. My dog's paws kept slipping on the laminated wooden floors, but that is a minor issue. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday and would certainly recommend Rutland Caravan and Camp site as well as Church View as a holiday destination.

The site and surroundings were perfect. The only very minor feedback that I would give is that this particular accommodation should be advertised as being part of the main reception building. We were a little surprised when we were directed to the rear of the reception office to park the car and then told that this was the cabin!......I think that guests should be made aware of this beforehand as it can be a little off putting with visitors to the site constantly outside your windows. We can only assume that this particular cabin is kept away from the others as it is the only one that allows dogs. Again, I just think it should be made clear beforehand. Other than that cannot fault the place and hope to return

There was a whole kitchen with all the utensils, plenty of towels for the weekend, a little hamper with milk, eggs, wine, chocolates, fresh bread etc. which was very thoughtful. The site also gives you 30mins free swimming per day at the indoor pool which is about 20seconds from the cabin, well worth booking your slots and getting the whole pool to yourself. • "This lodge had everything that we needed and some we were not expecting like the coffee machine."

We were lucky with the winter weather in that even though it was very cold outside we only had a few hours of rain. The lodge was very warm so was very welcoming after a walk at Rutland water which is only 15 minutes drive away. The on-site cafe was not open for us but was reopening mid Feb I believe so we can’t comment on that. The lodge is on a camping and caravan site which was very clean and tidy and despite it being January had quite a few touring caravans for the weekend. The lodges are separate and all 7 have their own private High fenced garden That was not overlooked allowing privacy when using the hot tub. The village and nearest pub the plough is only a 5 to 10 minutes walk and did lovely food and welcoming staff. There is also another pub that was a further 5 minutes walk , cannot comment on the food as we only had a drink. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and appreciated. The only suggestion to visitors is to make sure you take a torch as when it gets dark it is a very dark walk back from the village pub. We have both said that we will return. The only suggestion for the lodge is perhaps something to put muddy boots on.
