The area surrounding Welney is low lying and is home to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) reserve in the Ouse Washes. The reserve is the winter home of thousands of swans and ducks from northern Europe and the Arctic. Also close by is the RSPB reserve at Ouse Washes which has walks across the wet grasslands. The historic city of Ely is just a short drive away and is home to Ely’s beautiful cathedral with its unique Octagonal tower.
