The market town of Ennistymon is set on the River Cullenagh, on the edge of the Burren in County Clare. The town is renowned for the cascades, which pass over the river Cullenagh, plus a walk to the top of Church Hill to view breathtaking scenery is essential. Craft shops with traditional fronts, fine restaurants, pubs with Irish music, plus a food and craft fair held on Sunday's, mean that there is something for everyone in this delightful town. Close to Ennistymon is O'Brien Castle, which dates back to 1588, plus there are golf courses in Lahinch and Doonbeg and for a superb day out the stunning Cliffs of Moher are close by. Alternatively, catch a ferry from Doolin to the Aran Islands or enjoy a walk along The Burren Way. Ennistymon is a superb base from which to explore the area.
