Location: Whiddy Island, County Cork

Whiddy Island is a small island, located 1.5 miles off the coast of Bantry in West Cork. A daily foot ferry runs regularly to Bantry with crossings taking 10 minutes each. A popular location for visitors, this delightful island boasts stunning views and a pub and small restaurant, which serves locally caught fish including fresh crab and mussels. There are ample watersports opportunities, with many great coves and inlets providing ideal spots for swimming. Enjoy fantastic fishing, birdwatching, cycling and walking or try and spot a dolphin or otter in the surrounding waters! Just a short ferry crossing away is the bustling Irish market town of Bantry, situated at the head of the famous and beautiful Bantry Bay in the heart of West Cork. This is one of the most naturally beautiful and unspoilt areas of Ireland, full of picturesque bays and beaches, spectacular hills and welcoming hostelries, shops and restaurants. The vibrant city of Cork is also well worth a visit and is about an hour's drive away.

The Property

A lovely old stone cottage, located on Whiddy Island, 1.5 miles off the coast of Bantry in West Cork. In an isolated position of peace and tranquility, Teachers Cottage offers simple yet comfortable, light and airy accommodation with a welcoming sitting room with open fire, a charming dining/sun room and a small pebble beach at the foot of the garden, boasting wonderful coastal views. The area is perfect for walking, cycling and fishing, while a short ferry crossing takes guests to Bantry, a busy market town offering a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and traditional music venues. The perfect base for a relaxing break.

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Shower room with shower, basin & WC. Open plan living area with fitted kitchen, sitting area with open fire & dining room/sun room with spectacular views over Bantry Bay.

Fuel, power & starter pack of fuel for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Small car park & roadside parking on first come first served basis at Bantry Pier. Lawned rear garden with garden furniture, leading onto small pebble beach area. 2 well-behaved pets welcome. Shop 1.5 miles via 10 minute ferry crossing, pub on island 10 mins walk. Note: Regular foot ferry service to Whiddy Island from Bantry Pier in Bantry, Co Cork (crossing takes 10 mins - departure times subject to change so check prior to departure). Cars can be parked at Bantry Pier. If car required on island, car ferry service runs to island from Bantry Pier on a Tuesday and Thursday.
