The village of Eyeries in County Cork lies on the Beara Peninsula, overlooking Coulagh Bay and the mouth of the Kenmare River in the south-west. This Cork village offers a true insight into Irish village life, with quaint fishermans cottages and traditional pubs offering a warm Irish welcome. Although the famous Beara Way does not pass directly through Eyeries, there are two points within the village where you can join it, making this Cork village a walker's paradise. Within easy reach is Kenmare, an interesting town full of character and colour, with long winding streets providing the backdrop for farmers' markets, artists' galleries, lovely little boutiques and some of the best restaurants in Ireland! Other nearby attractions include Ireland's only cable car which departs from Ballaghboy on the tip of Beara Peninsula and leads to the peaceful Dursey Island, or Europe’s largest Ogham Stone at Ballycrovane. This region has plenty on offer, from sea safaris, adventure centres, world renowned walks and cycle routes to arts and crafts, meaning there is sure to be something to occupy everyone come rain or shine.

The Property

Eyeries 4 miles. A block built, detached cottage in a quiet location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, situated in the rural hamlet of Kilcatherine, 4 miles from Eyeries, County Cork. This Cork cottage offers simple, but well equipped and comfortable accommodation with en-suite facilities, a lawned garden and some stunning sea and mountain views. There is direct access to a tidal sound at the bottom of the garden, perfect for a spot of sea angling. A short walk from this Cork cottage are the ruins of the famous Kilcatherine church, dating back to the 5th Century, and a little further away in Eyeries you can gain access to the Beara way, with its terrific walking routes. Within easy reach is the town of Castletownbere, Ireland's premier whitefish port, with an abundance of eateries to tantalise the taste buds. Within the town is a links golf course and a number of shops to browse. After a day exploring, why not head back to this Cork cottage, relax, and watch the sun set against the breathtaking mountain scenery?
