With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. The area is also famous for its rough shooting of woodcock, snipe, pheasant, duck and wood pigeon. Other wildlife in abundance include mink, fox, mountain hare, wild goat, sika deer and the famous “big reds”. Step outside this Glencar cottage and you are surrounded by 200 acres of the owners' land; encompassing lakes, mountains, woods and streams, guests are free to wander around and take in the peace and tranquility of the area, or enjoy a spot of fishing in one of the lakes. The private walled garden area with a feature stone circle is ideal for dining alfresco on a balmy summer's evening, overlooking the surrounding beauty.
