Glencar ,“The Highlands of Kerry”, is located right in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as “The Kingdom”. Glencar is a nature lover’s paradise surrounded by the mountain range McGillycuddy’s Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Irelands highest mountain, majestically towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. The area is also famous for its rough shooting of woodcock, snipe, pheasant, duck and wood pigeon. Other wildlife in abundance include mink, fox, mountain hare, wild goat, sika deer and the famous “big reds”. The village is home to 3 pubs including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink along with a post office and food store. The pretty town of Killorglin is within easy reach, the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, offering a variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants, while an abundance of sandy beaches and golf courses are within easy driving distance.

Glencar 2.5 miles. A lovely detached old stone house, peacefully and scenically situated near to Blackstones Bridge over the River Caragh, 2.5 miles from the village of Glencar in County Kerry, Ireland. Boasting panoramic views of the McGillycuddy Reeks and highlands of Glencar, Teach Altra has been lovingly restored to a high standard and offers two ensuite bedrooms, a cosy sitting room with open fire and a welcoming kitchen with woodburner, dining area and sliding doors to the garden, a perfect place in which to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery. The village of Glencar is close by, offering a shop and pub, while the area is great for walking and angling, and rough shooting between November and January. Within easy reach are Killorglin, the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, boasting a golf course and a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with more golf courses at Killarney and Beaufort and beaches at Rossbeigh, Banna Strand and Inch.
