Glencar ,“The Highlands of Kerry”, is located right in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as “The Kingdom”. Glencar is a nature lover’s paradise surrounded by the mountain range McGillycuddy’s Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Irelands highest mountain, majestically towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. The area is also famous for its rough shooting of woodcock, snipe, pheasant, duck and wood pigeon. Other wildlife in abundance include mink, fox, mountain hare, wild goat, sika deer and the famous “big reds”. The village is home to 3 pubs including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink along with a post office and food store. A lovely detached old stone house, peacefully and scenically situated near to Blackstones Bridge over the River Caragh, 2.5 miles from the village of Glencar in County Kerry, Ireland.
