A colourful market town in County Cork, Skibbereen has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is also home to the West Cork Arts Centre, and the Skibbereen Heritage Centre. This is the ideal spot to sample the local produce, from meat to bread to seafood, and there are weekly country and farmers' markets. Skibbereen is surrounded by beautiful Irish scenery, from the coastal landscapes of vast sandy beaches and secluded coves, to the inland greenery of forests, lakes, rivers and hills. Walkers and cyclists will love the varied terrain, while the 18-hole golf course and indoor sports centre with facilities including tennis, gymnasium and sauna will appeal to those in search of more leisurely pursuits. On leaving Skibbereen you will be spoilt for choice on where to spend your days - Leap, Rosscarbery, Baltimore, Glandore and Schull are all an easy drive, with Kinsale a little further but still worth a visit, being the 'gourmet capital of Ireland'. With three lovely bedrooms, one ensuite, this is an ideal Skibbereen cottage base for a family or group of friends. Enjoy Tragumna's sandy beach, which offers good swimming, excellent fishing, boat tours and scuba diving, or visit nearby Skibbereen, a lively market town offering a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, weekly farmers' markets and an 18 hole golf course.
