The cottage is in a great location to travel to many local attractions and walking distance to a great local pub. The hot tub was a welcome feature and the garden was a great size too.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us feedback. It is most valuable to us, the owners, as it enables us to see if there are improvements that need to be made. We hope to see you again at Angarrack very soon. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, very clean and well looked after."

It is very much like a home from home as there is everything that you would need as well as some lovely little personal touches like, milk in the fridge on arrival, a bottle of wine and lovely fresh flowers. The hot tub and garden were great, also very clean and maintained but the only down side is they aren’t attached to the property and you have to walk across the drive way to get to it, and there are other families in the cottages next to you so I didn’t feel like my 12 year old daughter could just play out in the garden with her football like she would at home. But all in all the cottage is lovely and would definitely recommend.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us feedback. We are glad that you had a lovely time with us at Angarrack and hope to see you again sometime. Property Owner

  • "Overall a lovely cottage and enjoyable stay."

Everything was very clean and the cottage was kitted out with basic essentials such as washing up liquid, hand wash, dishwasher tablets and a couple of loo rolls in each bathroom; very handy to have these on arrival so you're sorted until you can get to the shops. They had an extensive range of pots, pans, plates etc with things like egg cups, juice bottles and all sorts of surprising/useful things. The children's room was gorgeous and there were lots of books and board games throughout the cottage. An extensive welcome pack and lots of info on local attractions. The housekeeper was very friendly. We accidentally cracked one of the plates but were told not to worry about it, and when the chlorine dispenser for the hot tub broke it was quickly replaced with no fuss, which we really appreciated. Only slight downside was that all the notes dotted around the house with warnings about blocking the toilets/using the heating/breaking things/using the dehumidifier made us feel a little less 'at home' and a bit on edge, because they were literally everywhere you looked and it made it a bit harder to relax, in the first couple of days. However, I understand why they feel the notes are needed if they have had bad experiences of people blocking toilets etc...I would maybe suggest putting all the warnings/requests together in the welcome pack, or in a separate book on the table, so that they can be read all together at the beginning of the holiday rather than constantly coming across them the whole time you're there. It just made us feel like every time we went to relax on the sofa, or go to the loo, or brush our teeth there was a note glaring at us with rules, or warnings, or requests. They were all perfectly reasonable rules, warnings and requests - but you just don't really want to be constantly faced with them all day. Having them all in one book of rules would be fine. Another slight negative was that the hot tub is away from the cottage down some steps rather than right outside the door, so you have to walk up and down sometimes when it's dusk or chilly, but this isn't a massive problem. I would also say that this is not an ideal place to stay if you do not have a car and this should perhaps be made more clear in the listing, as we thought there was a bus stop near by but actually the nearest bus stop is a 20 min walk away and that's only one bus route, to go further (e.g St Ives) its an even longer walk across a bridge over a roundabout. The taxi services in Hayle are terrible; only three taxi companies and they are all almost always fully booked so really difficult to get a taxi to and from the cottage. However, if you have a car none of this matters and things like Godrevy Point, Penzance and St Ives are a very short drive away from the cottage. The local pub closed its kitchen earlier than they advised food being served until. We had even called them earlier that day and specifically asked what time food was served until, and when we arrived they had closed the kitchen earlier than the time they had stated. Not even an apology or explanation. So just be aware of this and if you want to eat there then perhaps go a lot earlier in the evening than the advertised time. The pub does have very good reviews and we would have liked to eat there so its definitely something to be aware of. Of course this is nothing to do with the cottage! I just thought I would mention it so people staying here can be aware :)

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are sorry about the issues that you experienced with public transport etc and will discuss changing the wording to reflect your concerns with Sykes. We will give serious consideration to the 'putting of notes etc' in the Welcome folder but unfortunately we have to abide by the requests of our insurance company who insist that we have all notices prominently displayed. A warm welcome to fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. Oh and a bottle of fresh milk in the fridge. As we stayed in February the nights were extremely cold, it’s a very old cottage so to have the wood burner was lovely, made they stay even cosier. 10/10 for cleanliness, believe me I looked for faults but there were none. Clean fluffy towels, crisp white linen. I would highly recommend a stay here, an extremely comfortable, welcoming cottage. Will be definitely booking to stay again.

Central to many places and really loved the patio and hot tub. Looking forward to visiting again.

Pretty garden, great hot tub, well equipped. Great location near the A30 (not near enough that it disturbs you!) so everything is within easy reach if you want to explore. Nice local pub for dinners. Easy drive to local beaches, also the park and ride for St Ives, and slightly further afield but easily reachable are the Lizard, Porthcurno, Sennen, Falmouth, pretty much everywhere. We flew in to Newquay, it's an easy 30-min drive from there to Angarrack.

The kitchen was well equipped more than enough for our needs. The bed was very comfortable, slept better here than I do at home. Being over 6ft with a few extra pounds I did find the downstairs shower a bit small for me, but that was the only fault, but as there is a shower upstairs it wasn’t an issue. Would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to be back soon. Sean & Lynn

  • "The wi-fi connection was intermittent and dropped-out several times a day thus necessitating reconnecting and the remote controller for the tv/dvd did not function on some dvd operations such as ejecting, fast-forwarding etc."

The controller appeared to be a generic, all-in-one device and not specific to the actual make of the TV set. The boiler showed a “reset” red light on three occasions - it did start-up again once we had pressed the appropriate button. The lid on the hot-tub which is hinged in the middle would only open on one half; the remaining half was extremely heavy and we were not able to raise it so as to access the whole of the hot-tub area. We understand the lid was sodden with water which made it extra heavy. These issues were raised with the local house-keeper who helped as far as she could and asked us to raise the issues via a “please fix this”card to be left in the outside letter-box; we did this re the hot-tub cover but did not receive any acknowledgment from the owners. Although these are relatively minor annoyances we had not experienced any such issues on our first stay at the cottage some two and a half years ago and were disappointed to encounter them this time. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the cottage in general due to the efforts of Lou and her team especially so during this pandemic time and thank the local staff for their thoroughness.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback, we take this very seriously and are sorry to hear that you experienced some minor issues. With regard to the WiFi, this is a high-quality installation to ensure good coverage and a strong reception throughout our properties. It is managed and overseen by our IT consultants both by way of visits and remotely. We have since checked this and found no problems and have had no other complaints. The hot tub cover is relatively new and we provide instructions regarding use. It may be that that you tried to lift the cover incorrectly, as it has been checked and subsequent guests have not problems. The TV and DVD are one and the same and the remote control is the original for the unit. It simply necessitated a change of batteries which Lou did as soon as she was made aware, there have been no difficulties since. In terms of the boiler, as soon as we were made aware, we called out our heating engineer. He did not find any issues and again, there have been no ongoing problems. We are pleased to hear that you were impressed by the cleanliness of the cottage and the efforts of Lou and her team, we all do our best to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay at Godrevy Cottage. About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafes where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries or admire the colourful sub tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre (35 mins), Falmouth Maritime Museum (40 mins), Eden Project (40 mins), St. Michael’s Mount (15 mins) and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
