  • "Thank you Mandy and John for a memorable week at Dowr Cottage."

It was everything we could have hoped for and more and you have really gone the extra mile to make it a home from home. The cottage is ideally situated away from the bustle of Tintagel, but only a few yards from some stunning walks and views and the excellent Bossiney Tea Rooms. The wine, cream tea and milk were much appreciated after a long journey down from Essex.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage, immaculately clean, with good facilities."

Great location, only a few minutes walk from the coastal path. We loved staying here, nice quiet location, but only a short walk away from Tintagel with plenty of shops and eateries to enjoy. Would definitely recommend.

The location is great, the coastal walks are amazing with beautiful sights to see. The hosts are very welcoming, and made sure we had everything for a great stay. Loved it!

  • "Dowr cottage - a complete "little gem" for two, total comfort assured."

After seven nights we were reluctant to leave. Quality throughout, well equiped, (lacks an egg poacher!!) gleaming clean on arrival, a warm welcome by John and Mandy in person too. So much to see and do in the area -- a perfect base, and yes, you can park your car "outside" safely. Rob and Gill

  • "Just got back home after staying at Dowr Cottage for the week whilst visiting Tintagel & surrounding areas."

What an absolute gem of a place it is. So beautifully decorated and the owners have literally thought of everything that might be needed during your stay. We were greeted by John & Mandy who showed us around. They very thoughtfully had left us milk in the fridge, a cream tea & a bottle of wine too. Honestly could not fault it! There’s a tea shop right by the cottage & you can take a little walk across the road for ice cream, drinks & other treats from a cute little vintage van where you can sit & admire the beautiful views & there is ample parking. The walk into Tintagel took us about 15 minutes where there are plenty of shops, cafes & pubs. The coastal paths are right by if you like your walking as we do. Also the bus stop is close to the cottage which is really handy for getting about without having to drive everywhere. We caught the bus into Boscastle then did the walk back via the coastal path with stunning views. If we return to Tintagel in the future I would 100% stay here again.

  • "An absolutely wonderful place to stay, superbly decorated and furnished, everything you could want - a lovely bed in particular, we slept very well!"

    - a nice touch of a cream tea upon arrival and overall we felt very welcome and comfortable the coastal path is literally minutes away and the walk into town easy and quick so didn't need to use the car - the bus stops outside so its a good way of going to the start of your walk, say in Boscastle, and then walking back along the amazing clifftop path before collapsing in the comfort of the cottage -

  • "We have just returned from a week at Dowr Cottage!"

It was absolutely beautiful with everything you could possibly need and so tastefully decorated. John met us on arrival and explained everything and gave advice on walks/restaurants etc, although there is plenty of information inside the cottage. Parking was very convenient and Tintagel a beautiful place to base yourself for visiting so many wonderful places. A real gem and can’t wait to return.

  • "Lovely small cottage, which is very well equipped and tastefully decorated that we thought is ideal for two people who enjoy walking into Tintagel for its pubs, restaurants and cafes and also like coastal walking, as the coast path is just a short step away."

A good base for exploring the area, visiting for example, Boscastle, Port Isaac and St. Nectan’s Glen.

  • "Lovely property, extremely well presented and equipped."

Great location, just far enough out of Tintagel to be away from the crowds but near enough to easily walk in. Only50 yards away from the Bossiney Tea Shop (excellent for breakfast/lunch) and near access paths for coast walks to Tintagel and Boscastle. Would also recommend The Tintagel Brewery and Bistro just outside Tintagel for quality lunch/evening meals (and beer) in a nice environment.

  • "Firstly, it has to be said the cottage is lovely and cosy."

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you will need, the lounge area is very comfortable with a great electric fire. Both the bedroom and bathroom are also very nice with great linens and fluffy towels, although we didn't have the bathrobes as mentioned (maybe due to Covid restrictions?). The cottage is very warm with central heating and hot water pretty much when you want it. The owners John and Mandy have obviously put a lot of thought into their holiday cottage. Location is good with beaches, coastal walks nearby and also the major attractions. A previous review mentioned the car parking being an issue. Although there is NO on site parking there is about 50 yards away a small communal place to park for about 7 cars at best. As we were not staying in peak summer time we didn't have a problem but we think this could be an issue in better weather in the summer, but the cottage has a permit for the farmers locked field which we also used and found to be easy, no problem, at no extra charge. We wouldn't park in the road outside the cottage as we felt the road was not wide enough. We feel we have to mention that the cottage is on the quite busy B3263 road which runs from Boscastle/Bossiney/Tintagel etc and the bedroom window is literally next to the road (no pavement) which we found certainly in the mornings there was the inevitable traffic noise. From the picture and description it says the small garden is completely private which is not the case. You cannot see an adjoining cottage with their kitchen window and back door overlooking the garden. The garden bench is placed right outside the window for the adjoining cottage with no privacy. The weather did not allow us to sit outside but personally we do not believe we would have done so due to the road being so near, just feet away. We feel people should be made aware of this as this was not mentioned in the description.

  • "This property is exceptional and exceeded our expectations."

It was clean, comfortable, well-equipped and tastefully decorated. We were able to park outside the cottage but there were two other parking options close by if this hadn't been available, both free of charge. The owner was lovely and couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. We have absolutely no complaints and can definitely recommend this cottage. The location of the cottage is close to coastal walks and Tintagel, so a great base for exploring the local area. The tea room next door is very good too!

The cosiest place I have stayed in. It has everything you could ask for and the decor is spot on. We stayed here July this year and the whole experience was fab. The cottage is a short walk from the beach and a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Tintagel. The hosts were lovely and on hand if you needed them. It’s the ideal location to stay when you want to visit other places in Cornwall. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and if we were to come back to Tintagel would definitely stay here. Well done

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive.
