  • "Where do we start…firstly a very warm welcome from Patsy and Roger."

They had left fresh flowers on the hearth, some sparkling wine and fresh milk from the local dairy farm and some delicious Cornish biscuits, just lovely. The house had beautiful gardens, was very spacious, the living room and views were spectacular. The beds were comfy. Being used to a king size bed, we switched to the twin room mid week! Nice pillows and fluffy towels were a bonus. The house was ideally situated for visits to St Ives, Carbis Bay and Marazion but we went further afield to explore the area. Lizard Point, Lands End and lots of National Trust places. Lovely gastro pub nearby The Halsetown Inn for food and drinks. Patsy and Roger were kind enough to share the history of the local area in a book that Patsy had written. Patsy, if you read this review, your book needs publishing!! I loved flicking through the pages! This was our perfect holiday. Our dog loved it too! We’ll be back, thank you. Julie, Jon & Meg xxx

  • "What an absolute gem of a place!"

We stayed in Brunnion House in May, it was our first time in Cornwall and we had heard so many great things, so expectations were high! Brunnion house did not disappoint, first off, the property itself is lovely, the bedrooms were lovely and rustic, the kitchen had plenty of utensils and equipment for any home cooking, the gardens were gorgeous and kept in a lovely condition. The lounge is a lovely wide area with outstanding views from the window, which my dog much appreciated staring out being nosy. There is plenty of space for the dogs to roam and wander. I appreciated the enclosed garden as my bigger dog is always looking for an escape route. It was absolute bliss sitting in the gardens, it's so quiet and all you can hear is the birds. The location is perfect, it was only a 10 min drive to the sunny seaside town of St Ives, there is plenty of supermarkets around, only 15 mins drive, local pubs in the area too, which served delicious food. If you are looking for a gorgeous stay with beautiful countryside views, then this is the perfect idyllic location! The best thing we could say is that it's lovely and peaceful but not too far from civilization, you are left in peace, but if you need anything, there is always a helping hand. We enjoyed our stay so much, we have booked again for next September, we are looking forward to bringing our new addition to our family this time, with the little one due this winter. Thank you again Roger and Patsy for a lovely stay and we look forward to seeing you next year!

  • "We had a great time at Brunnion House."

The friendly and approachable owners were close by and nothing was too much trouble. It provided access to most places with a short drive to local supermarkets and other shops, and of course the local beaches. The dogs loved a play on the beach to burn off some energy. There was a dog friendly pub a few minutes drive around the corner, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet of our surroundings. The house was warm and cosy after a day out. The garden birds were plentiful including over 20 gold finches, a pleasant sight even in the pouring rain - well it was Cornwall in January but it was a lovely relaxing break. It's been a about 14 months since our last visit to the South West of Cornwall, but I think the local drivers need to have some lessons in driving etiquette. They are generally so aggressive and impolite. However, it didn't spoil our break.

  • "We love visiting Cornwall and, this year, Brunnion House made it a perfect break."

The hosts, Patsy and Roger were on holiday when we arrived so Ali, who was looking after the house in their absence, welcomed us and showed us into the house. What a beauty! The house was warm and inviting, comfortable bed, hot shower and a cosy kitchen and dining area where we ate breakfast watching the birds in the garden. And the upstairs sitting room....large, comfortable and beautifully decorated with views from windows on all sides. We were made up! The weather was perfect, blue skies and sunshine every day which was ideal for visiting the scenic coastal villages. On Thursday night the weather turned and the heavens opened. Come Friday morning, it was still bucketing down so we decided to stay in the house for the day. Unheard of, for us on holiday, but it didn't bother us as the house was so warm and cosy and we had the chance to read Patsy's very interesting book on the history of the area. Then we met Patsy. Such a friendly and likeable lady and full of information. Thank you so much, Patsy and Roger, we had a lovely holiday in your beautiful house and would love to return, We wish both of you all the very best.

The owners were very kind and welcoming to us and the house was very spacious and comfortable with beautiful views over nearby Trencrom Hill. We also enjoyed watching the nature in the well kept gardens. Brunnion House is in a very peaceful location but only a short drive to lots of dog friendly places like Porth Kidney beach, Mexico Towans beach and Trencrom Hill. • "Cornwall is a lovely place but not dog friendly at all st ives is very bad for ..."

Cornwall is a lovely place but not dog friendly at all st ives is very bad for parking and the food is average pub food but the beaches are lovely but couldn’t take 2 small french bulldogs on any beach in st ives so won’t be revisiting

The two St. Ives beaches that are available for dogs are only usable at low to half tide but that there was a lovely area know as 'The Island' that is totally dog friendly and available at any time. Guests were supplied with a 'dog friendly guide' to the area. We advised that parking in St Ives could be a problem but that it was possible to catch the train, which is very reasonable and takes dogs for free, from either Carbis Bay or St Erth stations. We did tell them that the pub half a mile up the road from here was under new management and that we had eaten there and considered the food to be tasty average pub food. There are plenty of other places in the area, with parking, that do excellent food. Property Owner

  • "We loved the peace and the privacy of the property, the lovely garden and the amount of light were fantastic."

We found the double bed tiny for a couple (we are small in height and weight) and unfortunately the cleaning approximate, especially under and around rugs we accidentally touched, under the pillows in the seating area in the kitchen. Also an ant treatment is recommended as they appeared very frequently, even just with a cup of tea - no food! -by the kitchen window. The pump for the water in the kitchen is extremely noisy and every time anyone uses any water, like the loo at night time, it goes off - it would be good to place it outside or to put some sound insulation in the cupboard. A minor suggestion on the info pack: it was overall useful, we personally found unfriendly the amount of details and tone of the instructions (on how to deal with garbage for instance) and did not make us feel welcome. We often rent cottages in Cornwall and most people recycle and are happy to help! Hope these can help

Many thanks for your feedback. The owners greet their guests and advise them they are available, if they need any help with anything at all during their stay. The double bed is a standard double and she will address the points you mentioned regarding the cleaning with her cleaner and check for any ants. Again thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

We'd come a long way and for a family funeral, so not the best of times for us personally. However, our stay at the cottage completely lifted our spirits and the house provided somewhere comfortable and very pleasant as a base. We'd like to express our thanks to Patsy and Roger for the all-too-brief time we had there. You made us so very welcome and looked after our every need. About the location

ST IVES

Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!
