  • "Second time we have stayed in this accommodation and it has been perfect for what we wanted both times."

The garden is excellent for the dog to exercise in and you have access to the pool at any time. The thing that will take this property to a 5 star rating is that it probably needs a refresh, with some of the walls equipment etc looking a little tired now; but saying that; at the price you pay you are getting a perfectly good accommodation so that never really bothered us.

  • "A very enjoyable stay at the Stables with very helpful owners."

Perfect for what we needed; with a large garden which our dog loved to play in. Lovely bed in main room; you can't be taller than 5ft 6in for the small beds, but for kids they were perfect. The swimming pool is a big plus albeit I would say that maybe some temp steps to get into the shallow end may be useful as I dont actually swim and getting in the deep end was a non starter.

Pool was fantastic and the dogs were made so welcome with a enormous garden for them to play in. Would recommend.

  • "A lovely little place, that suited the 2 of us."

We used it as a base to travel around Devon & Cornwall & it was great for that. We had our own patio area leading into the shared garden, which was really peaceful. We took our own hairdryer & cafetière as these weren’t mentioned in the details, but discovered both when we arrived, which was a bonus! The owners were very welcoming and helpful too. A very enjoyable short break.

  • "I was extremely upset by the lack of cleanliness."

High levels of dust and dirt. I have photos. This concerned me. I had to clean items before we could use them. Strong odour of damp, especially bad in a kitchen cupboard.

We are sorry you felt this way. We were on hand if you wanted to raise these issues. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at The Stables."

Fantastic location, 20mins from 3 beautiful beaches & 15mins from Bude. Owners could not of been any nicer, feel like we have known them years. The grounds, cottage & pool were kept clean & tidy. We will definitely be going back to this little gem.

  • "Lovely place to say."

The owners were really welcoming & the welcome gifts were a pleasant surprise. The property was really clean, the bedding was really sumptuous & we had everything that we needed. The location is 10mins from Bude so you’re away from all of the ‘noise’ but close enough to enjoy the beach / Bude at the same time. We would recommend the property wholeheartedly.

  • "Great location if you are looking for something "in the middle of nowhere"."

We were unlucky with the weather but overall there was lots to see and lots to do if you are not afraid of the rain. Short distance away there are breath taking views and beaches. Onsite swimming pool was a great bonus if you are traveling with little ones. Cottage itself is quite worn out and outdated but if you are not looking for luxurious stay this cottage will provide you with all the essentials. Things to improve are shower and bed mattress, unfortunately we were not able to get a good night sleep.

  • "We stayed in the Stables, lovely accommodation generally."

The bathroom smelt awful, of damp and probably could do with a new shower curtain and rectifying the problem.

  • "This is a great location to use as a base for all your adventures into north cornwall and devon."

The accommodation was very comfortable and having the pool was a brilliant way to spend an hour or 2 with the kids, especially on a wet day (with social distancing stopping other forms of entertainment). The hosts were great and were always on hand if you needed them. A fantastic place for a family holiday. Highly recommended!

  • "1. It's the hosts who "exceeded expectations" , not Sykes !"

The initial telephone contact was warm, friendly and informative; this was matched by the initial meeting and all contact thereafter. The Cottage came with a "starter pack" that included washing up liquid, toilet & kitchen rolls, salt n pepper & loadsa tea / coffee. Freeview tv a bonus. 2. We stupidly placed an item on the night storage heater, thereby staining it. They were so understanding and tactful even tho' they must have been seething with us. 3. The whole family enjoyed the break, especially the 2 x 12 year olds who made the most of the pool. 4. I was unwilling to spoil the ambience at the time, but the hosts might consider advising people staying in the place above The Cottage that every chair-scrape / footstep/ table move resonates down below ! Thoroughly recommend both the property and the owners who were unobtrusively there if needed.
