  • "We were happy with the accommodation, but the bed was extremely squeaky, I feel this would had been very noticeable before guest arrived as you only need to move the bed slightly to hear it, so cleaners would had heard this while making the bed."

We did not sleep/rest well due to this factor so was very disappointed. It ruined our stay.

  • "We were delighted with the property."

There are lots of lodges on site, but Faraway Fields was laid out so well that you still had lots of privacy. It was a very quiet site and the staff were very helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again. Great and easy location too.

  • "My mother and I stayed here recently for a few days."

When we arrived we were so taken aback with how beautiful this place this. The wooden lodge is very attractive and blends in with it’s surroundings. The location is extremely pretty. It is exactly like the photos, although I would say it is not as close to the fields as it appears in the photos. We liked the location because it was out in the countryside, quiet, peaceful, pretty and secluded. We were situated beside a small woods which I enjoyed watching and listening to the birds appear from. We were surrounded by shrubs and bushes which were really pretty. Faraway fields is very well thought out. The lodge was clean (bar the odd cobweb), the interior was to a high standard, yet cosy but with plenty of space for the 2 of us. The main eating/ relaxing area was light, airy and spacious. We appreciated that we were given a bottle of milk for a cup of tea when we arrived, and liked this thoughtful touch. The hot tub was amazing, perfect temperature and we were in there a lot! However, not all the jets worked which was a shame. The master bedroom suited me well, beautiful bathroom, dressing area & wardrobe with a nice amount of luxury hangers. Unfortunately the bed was not a king size, but 2 twins put together so please be aware of this as it is not the most comfortable with a gap in the middle so can’t move around a lot. There was some paint coming off the corner wall in the master, which looked a bit shabby. The twin beds in the other bedroom my mother said we’re uncomfortable (she tried both) and asked me to lie in them to see if it was just her. However I too, felt a dip in the bed. The host in reception were polite, friendly and helpful but also left us to enjoy our stay which was much appreciated. We were undisturbed by our neighbours and didn’t hear a thing from them which was lovely and made our stay all the more relaxing. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked another for next year.

Wow! We so appreciate you taking the time to leave us your incredible feedback and experiences from your stay at 2 Faraway Fields. I am so very happy to hear how much you loved your lodge and the beautiful surroundings at Southern Halt. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts about the mattresses on both the king size and twin beds, I have passed your comments to our housekeeping manager to investigate. Thank you also for letting us know about the issue with the hot tub, our hot tub maintenance team will be making sure that this problem does not reoccur in the future. I can't wait to welcome you back to see us again very soon! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Fantastic. We stayed in June, the price was fair, possibly a little overpriced but I feel all UK staycations are costly at the moment."

Facilities were great, very private and to our taste - not bothered by anybody and never heard a peep from the other lodges. Exactly what we wanted. Lovely little pub down the road with great food!

  • "A beautifully positioned holiday home, with private (vast) decking surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and hedges; additional lawned areas to one side (west facing) and rear… This is the cleanest lodge we’ve used at Southern Halt in recent years."

Presentation was good, relatively fresh throughout; the linen was crisp and clean. Tip: take your own bed pillow if you’re fussy about type, and filling. NB: There are three TV’s signed in from various previous occupants/lodge users; Prime, Netflix, You Tube etc. Check parental guides… The onsite street lighting (very little of it) and roads need attention; pot hole type burrows are evident within the expanse of gravel roadways, do be careful of your alloys! There are new ‘owners’ in place at Southern Halt (and Stonerush Lakes nearby) they are maintaining the Charteroak brand name, I’ll watch with interest for improvements on both sites. In summary a very good visit 8/10. Thank you…

Thank you very much for leaving us feedback Paul, we really do appreciate your time. I am so happy to hear you were pleased with your lodge and surroundings and enjoyed your break at 2 Faraway Fields. Thank you for highlighting the pillow choice and signed in issues with the TV's and also for pointing out that the roads and lighting require attention. As new owner's the lighting at the site and the condition of the roadways are high on our list of priorities to be resolved as soon as possible, so hopefully by the time you return they will have been dealt with. We look forward to welcoming you back for another visit very soon. Sally Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner
