Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for its Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nearby is the Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west and which tells of the widespread mining heritage of this area. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family.

Previous visitors' comments about Poldark Cottage:
Lovely rural cottage for a 'get away' from it all experience! It had everything we needed, including candles and lemon drizzle cake! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. despite our late arrival. I would definitely stay at this cottage again.
Mrs Pearce, Norwich, November 2011
The location was very peaceful and the welcome pack of cake, biscuits, coffee, tea and vases of fresh flowers were an added bonus. If you are happy to travel around by car and then come back on an evening and chill then the cottage is ideal.
Mrs Wood, Liversedge, July 2011
Booking handled efficiently, inspiring confidence. Interesting property in beautiful location. Very dog-friendly, though the high standard of decor, quality traditional furnishings and well-maintained grounds belied the fact that many dogs had spent their holidays here over the past few years. Very well-equipped and we would happily have settled there for longer.
