  • "Beds were so uncomfortable and springy we were unable to sleep properly all week."

Sofas also not very comfortable either with the bottom cushion slipping constantly and not very clean feeling. Cobwebs in several places especially around kitchen window and outside sitting areas. Carpets downstairs felt very dirty. Plugs in main bedroom not very accessible behind drawers and you can not lean/sit on the bed without it sliding from its position. No dresser to be able to sit and dry hair etc. There was a damp feeling in the lodge in general, surrounding grounds and site very boggy. Slippy steps to get down to property with the top fence rail dangerously unstable. On the whole a disappointing stay. A little work and effort could make a big difference to the comfort of this property. (Mainly new mattresses)

  • "Great place to stay."

Perfect location on the holiday site for ease of access to everything. Great that you have unlimited use of indoor and outdoor swimming and you can even sit on the balcony and watch the outdoor pool. Pub onsite serves lovely food. Shop is limited to basics only but not far to find a bigger shop anyway. Parking is on a first come first served basis but plenty of options from this lodge and we never had an issue parking 2 cars at the closest patch outside the lodge. The lodge could do with the kitchen tap securing and a better fridge and maybe a better clean on the balcony and patio areas, but all minor issues really. Would recommend a trip to Ginsters shop at Callington, pies are delicious and incredibly cheap and one box will last all week! Fantastic place to stay, would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

  • "Great property and location."

The on site facilities were great too so thank you for making sure they were included! Only minor issues - the particularly creeky double mattress. We would also have liked a few more dinner plates so we had enough to serve things to the table as well as eat from. Some more small glass tumblers would also be useful. But overall a great holiday and we would definitely come back as we only did about half of the visits we wanted to. If you could arrange better weather next time that would be awesome! ;)

No laundrette on site. Two toilet rolls to last a full wk. No entertainment. The sun was out in the evening out side pool shut at 5.

  • "We live locally and whilst having building work carried out, needed a home from home to move into for a couple of weeks."

We were not at all disappointed. The lodge was perfectly located with a lovely view over the outdoor pool. Being an upside down house, the balcony off the lounge was an extremely pleasant way to pass a few hours enjoying coffee or a glass of wine. The downstairs of the property remained very cool, making sleeping more comfortable during the mini heatwave we experienced. The lodge was well equipped, however we chose to eat at the bar/restaurant which was extremely nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful, all in all a wonderful stay, which I would definitely recommend.

  • "Great lodge in a great location."

Very clean and all essentials provided. Enjoyed using the top balcony and lovely seats. Pool & sauna access were a great bonus. As with most older people mattresses could have been more comfy and sofas a bit higher! Would definitely book again though and recommend to anyone.

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday there, I think the pictures on the website possibly didn't do justice to what you actually see."

It was pretty good. The location of the lodge was pretty good as it was close the the pool, pub and one of the playgrounds. We wouldn't mind going back there of We are going to Cornwall :)

I visited in the depths of winter but I can imagine in the summer it would be an ideal location for a family holiday.

  • "Clean and comfortable accommodation."

Sleeps 6 comfortably, but only 2x2 seater sofas. Not a problem for us, as only 2 people. A few minor problems, like broken bath panel, wonky kitchen tap, only one oven shelf. Good facilities on site.

  • "Lovely lodge but the bed in the bedroom with the en suite was so uncomfortable."

Neither myself nor my husband got a decent nights sleep all week which spoilt the holiday a bit as we were both so tired

  • "Lovely Lodge, very clean on arrival, nice quiet site in a great location."

The only issues we had were that some of the information in the welcome pack needs updating, for example; there is no longer a leisure card, you use the fob on the key and the password for the wifi is not noted down anywhere, you need to find it on the back of the router. We also had an issue where the water would cut out if people showered after each other, you need to leave around 15 minutes between each one. No major issues but things that would have been handy to know on arrival. All in all a geat lodge in a great location.

  • "Well positioned within the park - can’t beat overlooking the pool & pub!"

There was more sunlight on the balcony than the pictures show which was great. Yes the lodge can feel a bit cold & damp downstairs as previous reviews state but the heating works fine. Had no issues with the amount of hot water as previous reviews have mentioned- you just press the “boost” button again! Overall very good value for money

  • "Our lodge had obviously been vacant a while as there was a build up of cobwebs in the outside areas, along with a thick layer of dust on the bathroom extractor fan and dead insects in the light fittings."

There was also a musty smell we were unable to mask. The site facilities were ok, the sauna and jacuzzi were broken the whole time we were there which was disappointing. The gym was good except that it was in constant use by a PT class or park residents meaning it was difficult to access equipment. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful so that was good. All in all, we will not visit this accommodation again.

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
