Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.
A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey are all within 30 minutes by car. The tumbling surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast make for great days out. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.

A charming terraced property within a Grade II listed former railway building, originally designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 1860s, situated on the edge of the quiet town of Lostwithiel. The property today forms an elegant residence, and is furnished and decorated in modern style to a very high standard yet still retaining an air of timeless grace and beauty. The arched windows and exposed stonewalling are original features, the rooms are large and well proportioned and the patio on the riverbank catches afternoon and evening sun. The railway (trains pass very slowly) is on one side and the river quay with its small boats and wildfowl on the other. All the town’s amenities are a ten minute walk away and the nearby country rail station (2 mins walk) serves trains leading to Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth, Newquay and Plymouth. This is a holiday home with a difference. A home to be enjoyed after exploring the area’s many and varied attractions.

A lovely place.
Mr Howsam, Perth, September 2011
A very spacious property with light and airy rooms. We found it to be very comfortable accommodation and a good place to relax at the end of a busy day out. The owner was helpful and there was plenty of local information available. There are good shops and eateries within walking distance.
Mrs Fowles, Wotton-under-Edge, August 2011
The property was excellent throughout. There was plenty of room for all members of my family. It was ideally situated on the bank of the river and within easy access to all the amenities in Lostwhithiel and neighbouring coastal holiday resorts.
Mr Roddis, Sheffield, August 2011
The accommodation was spacious, easy to relax in and cook meals for a family of 7 people. Also the location of the cottage was close to the A30 and A38 making it easy to travel to most destinations.
