  • "A really lovely cottage."

Very homely with a brilliant relaxed atmosphere. Light and airy. Clean and well equipped. Super shower. Lovely touch with coffee, tea and biscuits plus shower gel. Would definitely recommend and plan to stay again.

Many thanks for your very positive feedback and I’m really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Starfish Cottage. I look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

    ...

I’m really sorry to read that you did not find loo paper or washing up liquid at the house. There should have been both. It must have seemed strange to find a comprehensive Welcome Pack with tea, biscuits, toiletries etc but not the basics. I recently engaged a new housekeeping service to improve the standard of cleaning and I’m pleased to see you gave this top marks. I’ve contacted the new housekeeper and the basics will be provided in future. Many thanks for your feedback Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely weeks holiday."

The cottage was superb , location was beautiful, and fortunately the weather was exceptional. The only negative was we could not get the TV to work but it didn't really matter at all as the peace and quiet was what we were looking for.

I’m really pleased to learn you enjoyed your stay in Starfish Cottage and thank you for giving all the facilities the maximum score. Concerning the TV I’ve had it checked and it is working. The problem is as I say in the Visitor Book it’s a smart TV, just not very smart. It takes a few seconds to respond to each command and this can give the impression that it's not working. • "Property and location was great, facilities at the property were fantastic."

Only downside was cleanliness as there was quite a bit of dust on skirting boards and cobwebs. Also when I went to use the microwave on the 3rd day there was a plate in there with 3 slices of mouldy pizza which I assume was from previous guests so it had not been thoroughly cleaned.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent visit to Starfish Cottage. I am really pleased that you liked the cottage but it’s a huge disappointment to learn that the cleaning was not up to scratch. It’s very important to me that the house is properly and thoroughly cleaned on the changeover day and clearly that standard has not been met. With immediate effect I’ve changed the housekeeping service and expect there to be an improvement straight away. Property Owner

  • "This is our second time here and always loved Pendra Loweth."

There were quite a few cobwebs that need some attention. Also need a new frying pan as the one in the cottage is in need of attention as food kept getting stuck, the downstairs toilet was freezing as the towel rail didn’t work but apart from that it didn’t ruin our holiday

Thank you for your feedback. The house should have been properly prepared for your arrival and I’m sorry it wasn’t. I’ve spoken to the housekeeper about the cobwebs. The housekeeper checked the bathroom heater but this had just been turned off at the switch. It’s been turned back on for the next occupants. She also checked the frying pan but it’s one without a non stick coating. It will be replaced if necessary. Property Owner

The location has always been excellent for exploring the whole of Cornwall and spending time with family and friends. We had a fantastic week the weather was amazing and we will defo be back … slight ‘1st world niggle’ no egg cups…. Not that I could find

Many thanks for your feedback and I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay in Starfish Cottage. Sorry you missed the egg cups they are on top shelf of the wall cupboard but they are out of the way and easily missed. Hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "The cottage in whole was very lovely and comfortable it had everything that is needed for a family holiday."

Just a few issues:- 1. Upon arrival (Saturday) we only had towels for 3 people and we were a party of 4. We did add the 4th person after our booking. Also we only had 3 forks. We tried the Cornish Cottage number after waiting 20minutes no reply so I emailed. We did receive a reply but said the office would sort on Monday. Monday Jan the cleaner arrived she apologised gave us a complete new cutlery set and extra towels. She did explain that she was only told 3 guests and not informed of the 4th. 2. The patio door does stick and you have to lift it to close it. 3. The TV as stated in the book is very slow to respond. When we first arrived the remote kept getting stuck so we changed the batteries but it still kept sticking. Probably the remote has been dropped a few times and the connection is not great and could do with being changed. I hope this feedback helps.

Many thanks for your feedback and I’m sorry there was not enough cutlery when you arrived. There had been a full set of 6 place settings but clearly some have been mislaid. As you know the housekeeper purchased a new set and delivered them to you early on Monday morning. The bath and hand towels were provided for three people and we should have arranged for four people when you changed your booking. Again the extra set was delivered on Monday morning. The Smart TV was bought last year and as noted in the visitor book there is a very slight delay when changing internet channels. Finally, the new windows and doors were fitted over the winter and the installer did say they may need adjustment after a bit of use. We’ve arranged to have this done mid June when the house is not occupied by guests. We do want the house to be comfortable for guests and thank you for saying you found it lovely and comfortable and had everything that is needed for a family holiday. Property Owner

  • "This was our first stay in Starfish Cottage & found it excellent in many ways."

We booked through Sykes Cottages. It was spotlessly & sparklingly clean almost to the point of feeling clinical, but that is good in these Covid governed days. It was very well equipped, parking space outside, and set in beautifully landscaped grounds which are very well maintained. The only slight downsides were that we were expecting to find a dishwasher but not washing machine as that was what was advertised. On arrival we found the reverse - washing machine but no dishwasher. Generally the cottage was very cosy & warm but the downstairs cloakroom was freezing cold - we could not get the radiator to work & there were no instructions in the cottage due to Covid regulations. We did as recommended and logged in to the website but that was of no use at all & we found nothing there to help us. On the leisure side, it is in a lovely part of Cornwall, but not good for walking from the cottage as access is down a long narrow lane which is not ideal as we had to use the car to go out & reach our favourite walking venues. All in all though we had a great holiday and found it overall a very good cottage.

Thank you for your comments. The owners and housekeepers go to great lengths in making sure that guests have a lovely holiday especially during these difficult times. The property has never been advertised as having a dishwasher. There is a washer/dryer in the cottage, we have updated the details on the website. The radiator in the downstairs cloakroom has been checked and is working fine, there is an isolator switch for the radiator which someone must have turned off prior to your stay. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Starfish Cottage and we hope to see you again in Cornwall in the not-too-distant future. Property Owner

It was certainly very peaceful and the site itself is beautifully kept. On the downside, it's not the easiest place to set off from walking, because the roads in all directions are extremely narrow. Also, if it is important to you, the internet connection is painfully slow.

Starfish cottage was perfect. It was in a beautiful peaceful and safe setting. Also I visited Cornwall again because my mother who was born in 1921 had lived on The Stack on Sunny Cove in Swanpool and the cottage was just a mile away. Due to Sykes whom I have chosen my holiday cottages before helped to make it perfect. Also for the pet friendly homes you offer. Thank you and for the friendly service I have recrived.
