The cottage is quirky but very nice, we met justin and he welcomed us and our yappy pooches, he gave us some useful info on local facilities. The garden is secure and large dogs loved it, we had the fields around the cottage to walk on, quite honestly it was perfect for us. You will enjoy your stay.

Delightfully peaceful in a woodland setting. Amazing for our two dogs who loved the opportunity to exercise in the 14 acres of grounds. The cottage itself is arranged upside down with good sized lounge and bedroom. Easy access via Mullion to Poldhu beach and others on the Lizard. Thank you so much Justin for your hospitality. We will be back soon!

  • "We spent a week at Higher Lampra and it couldn't have been more enjoyable."

The property is a cosy, well maintained, sweet little cottage. It's 'hideaway' setting was perfect for privacy but within walking distance of the lovely Mullion village. With a car all attractions, beaches were accessible with the property providing a tranquil setting to relax after a full day. The setting is lovely with fields and a small lake perfect for walking our dog and the property has the bonus of a secure dog-friendly garden. The host, Justin was really friendly and helpful. We had a little problem with the shower unit and Justin quickly sourced and fitted a new one while we were out that day. He was great. We would strongly recommend Higher Lampra and would visit again.

The grounds are dog friendly and safe. There are 3 fields you can walk around next to the cottage with benches to sit and watch the wildlife. There is lots of walks around. Some of the beaches close to dogs 1st July, but there is many dog beaches available.

Clean, bright and comfortable and superbly quiet. The garden was smaller and more shady but secure for the dog. The owner, Justin, was lovely, approachable and keen to know if all was well. We enjoyed our stay.

  • "Cottage is situated in a very quiet situation well away from roads."

There is plenty of walking available in fields around it and down to small lakes in the owner's grounds. A good place to escape to but also easy to get to villages/walks nearby. Only thing missing at well equipped cottage was outside table - but owner aware of this but unable to get one due to shortage! Enjoyed our stay in perfect weather!

  • "To be honest, after reading a review posted a week or two before our arrival, we did wonder what we would find."

As is usual, during our research when booking a holiday we had scrutinised the photos on Sykes' website and thought we had a fair idea of what to expect. We are glad to report there are no hidden horrors and all was as expected. After driving along a woodland drive carpeted with bluebells, red campion, cow parsley and so much more, we found the property set in a secluded corner of the 14 acre estate (which has mown paths around the field edges and pond for you to wander and explore - great for a dog walk in the evening after a day out). It was beautifully warm, clean and comfortable. It suited us and our dog perfectly. The whole area is criss-crossed with ancient public footpaths which lead to little villages and coast paths. There is a lovely track which starts just down the hill (to the right) from the property which will take you to Mullion village (c 1 mile). It was the perfect property for our break and without doubt we would go again. (PS. Perhaps if the author of the rotten review had researched he would have found fewer 'surprises' and maybe consider his manners and address petty issues direct with the host) "

  • "We had a very relaxing time at Higher Lampra."

.. beautiful old upside down cottage set in tranquil, private surroundings. It was lovely coming back to it after a trip out and driving down the lane with stunning wildflower hedgerows. The cottage is warm and cosy, nicely furnished and with great views of the surrounding countryside. Although small, the kitchen is well appointed which was important for us as the evenings were too cold to sit outside at a restaurant so we self-catered. Lots of information is supplied for trips out and a selection of videos for evenings in.The cottage is nicely placed for exploring the tip of Cornwall and also has lots of public footpaths around it if you don't feel like getting in your car. The family who run it are very friendly and keen to make sure everything is as you want it. It really felt like home for two weeks, we didn't want to leave and we would love to go back sometime.

  • "We have stayed at numerous properties and this could be the worst."

On our first evening the TV failed with a bang. Richard was really helpful and arranged for a replacement. No problem there but many issues with fitments and general presentation of the property. The main door is weak and an intruder could easily gain access. Very poor security. Two bathrooms are listed. The downstairs has a hand basin and toilet. Carpeted floor with no pedestal mat. Not hygienic. The upstairs shower is desperately small and barely adequate. Heating is by night storage heaters. These are rusty and in generally poor condition. Not a good way to heat a property, particularly at this time of year when temperatures varied from quite hot to cold. All electrical appliances have inspection dates of 2017 and are cheap quality. The kettle, for instance, only worked at times if the switch was held down. Some of the plates were chipped. Cutlery was limited. A poor selection of ill sorted items. Only four table knives for instance. Certain items missing, such as a fish slice. Old cracked non stick coated frypan. Generally poorly equipped. Table too small to spread a newspaper. Two very rickety chairs. Lighting too dim to read by. No surface to put anything down other than window sills. A coffee table would have helped considerably. Little storage space in the bedroom. Two small bedside cabinets. A small desk with three drawers. A small child sized wardrobe. All looked like random charity shop purchases. No 'welcome pack' with details of nearest doctors, refuse arrangements and so on. Some of the equipment leaflets applied to items which were no longer there. Overall, very disappointing and we were pleased to be able to leave. The low rating in the recommending category is down to the almost unreadable booking details. Certainly a format that does not work with Apple computers.

The cottage is tucked three hundred metres away from Chythons Road and is accessed via a private drive. It was very clean and well fitted out and suited us down to the ground. It is close to some lovely nascent wild flower meadows (great for our dog) but best of all are the two lakes which are beautifully landscaped and havens for wildlife (I saw kingfishers every day). Justin, the owner, was very friendly and has done a tremendous job in restoring the grounds. It was a real pleasure to both swim and boat the lake after a day's hiking the SWCP. It's a great location to explore the Lizard and beyond and the dark skies at night were perfect for stargazing and comet hunting.

MULLION

Helston 5 miles; Lizard Point 5.5 miles.

Mullion is a large village on the Lizard Peninsula, five miles south of Helston and just over five miles from Lizard Point, the most southerly tip of mainland Britain. The village is home to a selection of popular restaurants, shops and pubs, Mullion Meadows Chocolate Factory and coffee shop, as well as Mullion Cove, a pretty working harbour. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for its Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nearby is the Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west and which tells of the widespread mining heritage of this area. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Mullion is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family.
