  • "Such a beautiful house."

Comfy sofas for curling up in the evening, comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen! The house was perfect with plenty of spaces to chill. Mrs Hammond was really helpful, suggesting places to eat etc. I'd recommend The Pityme Inn for an evening meal. We also loved that we could explore without needing the car everyday. There was a short walk to the beach - where you could walk for miles at low tide. You can hop on the ferry over to Padstow from the beach too. Overall a perfect week away. We will definitely return.

A real home from home for all ages. Very thoughtful owner. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance to shops and beach. Lovely garden with several quiet areas to read take in the Cornish air. Thank you, we will be back.

  • "We stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of the 2022 summer holidays."

The house was perfect. It had everything we needed for us and our children. There was plenty of space. The owners were really helpful too (thank you!). The location is great. We spent much of the holiday exploring local beaches. Some of the ones we liked most that are local are Harlyn bay, Constantine bay and Polzeath. We also really liked taking the ferry over to Padstow. We had perhaps our best ever holiday staying in Kilcarreg and will certainly be back.

  • "The description of the location suggested a 10 minute walk to the ferry."

It is in fact 1.2 miles and if the ferry is used at low tide a demanding extra 1/4 mile walk over soft sand. We are both in our mid seventies and lucky to be reasonably mobile. Fortunately we took the car down to the ferry carpark. If we had not we would have been unable to walk back up the hill to return to the excellent house. The bakery, butchers and Spar were all very good and the house and facilities top quality.

I am sorry that you have marked down our lovely house because of the tidal nature of the ferry ,something which was explained to you in our introductory conversation prior to your stay with us and to which you responded that the information was 'good to know'. Sykes description of the property actually states that within a ten minute walk or a four minute drive is Ferry point with excellent restaurants including the Mariner's pub and the famous Blue Tomato. Ferry point is an area of Rock with shops, restaurants, facilities and a car park it does not specifically say to the Ferry . This is why we mention in our introductory telephone conversation the tidal nature of the ferry and that if a longer boat ride and a shorter walk is required then the high tide crossing is the one to aim for ,if possible, as a crossing at low tide involves a walk on the beach at either end of the shorter boat ride. I understand that the Sykes writer timed these journeys himself but conditions and people do vary so perhaps we had better note this. The footpath to Porthilly beach and Ferry point is marked in the Welcome pack which is the shorter route. I also mention that the return journey is up hill as I did in our conversation . I am sorry that this has marred your stay with us and I will ask Sykes to re phrase the description and to note that the ferry is tidal and I will continue to try to ensure that guests understand this in our initial chats. Please may I thank you for the way that the house was left after your stay with us housekeeping said that they had never seen a house vacated by guests left in such a clean and considerate state . Thank you very much . Property Owner

It was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished, well equipped and the WiFi was excellent. It is in a brilliant location, in a quiet street very close to our favourite beaches. The owner was very friendly and we had a wonderful holiday there, we all agreed it was the best place we had ever stayed at.

  • "The owners were very helpful and the house was lovely and comfortable with everything that was needed."

There was plenty of space in house and garden so we could be on our own or together as a family. Also there’s so much to do in the area and we had good weather. Rock is a lovely village and we can recommend the bakery, the deli and the fish and chips! Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed walking along the beautiful coast and beaches, swimming, kayaking, cycling and visiting places of interest.

  • "Kilcarreg was the best holiday rental we have ever had (and we've had lots over the years!"

). The house was huge, clean, warm, comfy and extremely well equipped. We loved the garden, which was perfect for hide and seek with the grandchildren. The house is also close to some excellent shops to top up on provisions, and there are lots of interesting Public footpaths which we enjoyed exploring. We always enjoy a trip on the ferry to Padstow, and have pasties for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay with our family. Thank you excellent service.
