  • "Speaking as an International visitor this is perfect choice for experiencing a quintessential Cornish fishing port."

You couldn’t get any closer to the action of the fishermen, their boats and seabirds in this quayside apartment. This picture postcard small harbour is nestled between cottage lined hills, with SW Coast Path walks in either direction. What a gem! Our winter visit was slower paced with few tourists enabling us get to know the locals and hear their tales. We even got a private tour of the little Museum through one of these chats! In the bad weather we could sit in the lounge and enjoy the harbour views through a huge window. This is one of the most memorable stays of our UK “Gap” year (in our 50’s). Thankyou to the host for sharing this unique property is such an amazing location.

We are so glad you had a memorable stay, hope you have an amazing “Gap” year with many more memorable stays, it was a pleasure to have you stay Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "Mevagissey is a great place to stay."

An interesting working fishing village with lots of local walks and many pubs and eateries. The apartment was reasonably comfortable, had great views and had the added bonus of a parking space which is quite unique in the village. The stairs were quite steep which could be a problem for some people. The main negative was that there was no heating or towel rail in the bathroom. Unfortunately it meant the bathroom was cold and the towels were always damp with no where to dry them.

Thank you for your feedback. We have know fitted a heated towel rail Regards Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely 3 nights over new year at The Hideaway, overlooking the beautiful Mevagissey harbour."

We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, but the accommodation was very clean and, although basic, had everything that we needed. The views over the harbour are amazing, I could sit at the window all day. It’s also very useful to have a private parking space which was small but adequate for my Tiguan. I’d imagine the drive through Mevagissey would be a lot harder in the summer though, with crowds of people. We took 2 dogs and they were fine although there isn’t anywhere to let them out, but I didn’t mind walking around the harbour with them. The stairs leading to the apartment are quite steep and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone with mobility issues, but we were fine. The accommodation itself is similar to a static caravan (with amazing views), a lounge/kitchen area, double bedroom, a 2nd bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom. We have 2 teenagers but they were ok in the bunks, after a bit of grumbling! There is everything you need in the kitchen and 2 TVs, and heaters throughout. Only negatives really were the double bed which is very lumpy and uncomfortable, and meant a difficult nights sleep. There was also a storm when we were there and the wind made it quite noisy with things clanging and banging but I guess that’s to be expected next to the sea. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your feedback we will look into replacing the mattress in the master bedroom , we replaced our cleaning company few weeks before your stay as we kept getting bad reviews so I’m happy that you found the property clean as it should be , and look forward to you staying again Regards Mark and Della Delmar Properties Property Owner

We stayed over Christmas as our son and daughter in law live nearby. The location is great with a lovely view over the harbour. You do need to be quite fit to lug all your luggage/provisions up the steps to the front door though. The hot water was not working when we arrived but I phoned Della and the maintenance man arrived within minutes and got it up and running again so we can hardly complain about that.

Thank you for your feedback, we have now hopefully solved the problem with the water so shouldn’t happen again Regards Mark and Della Property Owner

  • "What a view."

Every evening we sat on the harbour. Just down the stairs and you are there. Great views from the front window. The place was tidy. kicthen had everything you need to cook The bed wasnt too bad. Not as comfy as id like. Abit lumpy. The coffee table was sticky. Even after wiping it the coasters stuck to it. So probably needs sanding. Could do we a lamp in tne front room. We used one from the bedroom of an evening, just gave that cosey in feeling. And it could do with a fan. Was very hot so we had all the doors and windows open which was lovely but not at night with the sound of seagulls. It needs abit of a revamp. walls could do with a repaint. Maybe a new sofa or recovered. For what we paid for a wk i thought was a bargin for such a lovely appartment in a great location. But if i paid what they were asking prior wks id want alttle more of a fresh look and mattress etc.. i would stay again and recommend it to friends and family etc

thank you for your feedback, we have taken note and have indeed sorted out the table and added lamps etc .. look forward to you returning and seeing the improvements Mark and Della Delmar Properties Property Owner

  • "The view from the apartment was spectacular, but the place was dirty."

.Onion skins behind the chopping board, sofa covered in stains, coffee table sticky and dirty, and had not been hoovered underneath for some time. Only one bed was made up and without a mattress cover and under the thin sheet the mattress was stained. The other bedding was all on top of the top bunk and required a bed to be made up. The main bedroom door knob would not turn resulting in the occupier being locked in. The balcony was a joke with warn out chairs and table and a view of a boat repair shed. The view from the second bedroom was a dumping ground for rubbish and a traffic cone. As our vehicle was large I rang Sykes cottages prior to our visit to request the size of the parking space, but no one came back to me. On arrival we had to park within an inch of the wall to keep the car within the space. I found it rather insulting when I was advised to leave the property as I found it, having cleaned and made a bed up myself. All in all disappointing.

Hi sorry to hear you wasn’t 100% happy with your holiday experience, unfortunately Mevagissey is a working fishing village and the boat builders is a big part of that experience, you do still get a view of the sea and harbour from the balcony and most of our regular guests find it a welcome improvement over the small window that was there before. The cleaning issues will be addressed and will ask the house keeper to fire the new girl that had been doing that property making sure it doesn’t happen again. We drive a Audi a6 estate car and fit it into the parking space albeit snuggly again this is Cornwall for you and most of the village properties have no parking at all having to walk everything from car park you pass when you drive in. If you had made us aware of your concerns from the start we would have had the maintenance man and cleaning supervisor round immediately to rectify these issues for you! I hope we get the chance to do better on your next visit to Cornwall Property Owner

  • "The position of Hideaway is excellent able to see the harbour from the front room and just a short walk into the village."

Private parking space is a boon especially when there is such limited parking in the village itself. There is a steep winding staircase to the front door which could cause problems with someone of limited mobility and would benefit from a couple of hand rails at the top. The facilities in the flat were as expected and the beds were very comfortable. We had a fantastic week using the flat as our base as there are so many interesting places in the vicinity. So a great holiday in a comfortable flat, what more could one ask for in a holiday home.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Hideaway, we will inquire on handrails for the concrete step and see how if this is possible. Regards Property Owner

  • "The Hideaway is ideally situated in the most beautiful quant harbour town, and we could not fault its location."

There are a few beaches both around a 10 minute walk, one is dog friendly so we tended to go there as we had our dog with us. The parking at the property was really useful, it’s a tight space but with it being in the centre of town we could not fault it. The only negative is the cleanliness, the property could do with a good clean. Crockery was chipped, dirty cups, freezer so full of ice you couldn’t put anything in it, mattress protectors so ripped they didn’t stay on the mattresses. It’s such a shame because the property is in such a beautiful location, I’m sure if the owners took more care of it they would benefit.

Apartment looks in need of a coat of paint. Reasonably comfortable lounge area albeit that the settee is badly stained. Not the best equipped kitchen ever and they have an issue with a slow draining sink(mentioned in other reviews) Main bedroom was comfortable and roomy with good storage. The little balcony off the bedroom is excellent for a sit down in the mornings. Nice bathroom with good electric shower and just for once in a rented apartment the toilet flushed properly and the seat was well secured. Great location for the harbour and restaurants

Really disappointed with the badly stained sofa as when we walked in thats the first thing we saw. Looked lovely on the photos. Also the tv remote wouldn't work and we put new batteries in but had to use the buttons on the tv. The place needs freshing up and a new sofa.

Thank you for your feedback, we have the sofa professional cleaned but unfortunately this property is very popular and dog friendly it’s not always possible to make sure it’s stain free, we will look into replacing with a leather sofa in the future, we also have replaced the tv remote as it was the on/off , we button that wasn’t working , we have also replaced all the flooring . • "We loved the location."

The apartment was very well set out. However, we were disappointed in the overall quality of the apartment. We paid £1800 for a weeks stay. The apartment was very tired. The kitchen sink was blocked. The tiles in the bathroom mouldy. Light bulbs not working. The flooring was lifting throughout. Gaps where the beading was missing. There was dust and dirt under the bed. The drawer in the fridge cracked . I do know this is a pet friendly apartment and there would be Mark's on the furniture. However the grubbiness of the arms on the settee was not caused by any pet. In these days of the virus I would have hoped for a higher level of cleanliness. The toilet Bush was practically a stick. I didn't mind booking and paying the price. I understand its peak season but the quality was not reflected in the accommodation. I have photographs to back up everything I have said. I am in Cornwall at least 3 times a year. I have not ever felt the need to complain before.

  • "This is the second time we’ve stayed here and we just love it."

The addition of the little balcony is perfect and is such a wonderful sun trap. The only negative I have is the main bed, the positioning of it felt like we were sleeping on a very slight head-first tilt so we used a spare duvet to tuck under the mattress to alleviate this which helped but as the mattress was quite soft I kept waking up with back ache. Also there was no mattress protector under the sheet and the sheet kept pinging of the corners of the mattress in the night which was a little frustrating. The duvets were also very thick and very heavy given the time of year. However, none of the above would stop me visiting again as this place is a little gem - I’d just take my own bedding.

  • "The position of the property is fantastic."

Brilliant views. Park space is a bonus as many properties didn’t appear to have one. We felt the cleanliness was not up to par, especially when one has to vacate by 9am for the more rigorous clean. For example the dust layer in the main bedroom round and behind cabinets was there when we first arrived. Attention to detail around cleanliness is needed. Plus chipped cups and bowls needed replacing. Hanging baskets when windy were very noisy. Would I go back? Yes but I would want a deeper clean.

  • "Really struggle to fault, property is that good."

Only niggle could point out is parking space only big enough for a family hatchback, anything larger would not fit & overhang the space.

  • "Was worried it might be a bit chilly this time of year but it was comfortably warm."

The only minus was the mattress which we found a bit soft for us as we normally sleep on quite a firm mattress. We did make sure we emptied our bin on Thursday for collection Friday, but the wheelie bin was not emptied by the refuse collectors.
