  • "Our second time at this beautiful property."

The views are exceptional, in fact its general setting is ideal for a relaxing, restful holiday. It was spotlessly clean, and there has clearly been a lot of thought put into it in terms of anticipating its clients needs, so well appointed. The property Manager, Holly was very helpful both before and during our visit, and there was a vert nice welcoming gift, a nice touch, thanks Holly. We would strongly recommend Cormorant and we really look forward to a future visit.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, which is always appreciated. We do work hard, with Holly, to provide clean, well equipped and well maintained properties and it is always nice to hear that guests have noticed. The view is indeed amazing-whatever the weather. We look forward to welcoming you back at a future date. Property Owner

  • "This property is in very good condition with lots of equipment, comfy beds, ample hot water and heating."

One of the best we have stayed in. The property manager, Holly, let us know the property was ready earlier than the check-in time as she was aware we had 3 small children travelling with us, this was much appreciated. The view of the sea from the living room is beautiful, you can even see the lighthouse at Trevose Head. Our dogs were happy too with the garden area but if your dog likes to investigate the garden will not keep them in and this is made very clear in the description. The location is perfect for the local beaches, two of which you can access on foot from the house. You can also visit a different beach every day with a very short car journey. There are 3 supermarkets within 15 minutes. The pub next door, the Bowgie Inn, is convenient if a little lacking the personal touch as everything is done via an app. Our only slight negative is regarding the local shops and eateries around Cornwall. We visited in February and pretty much everything was closed or being renovated. This was not a major issue but meant we had to work harder to find places to eat.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback which is always appreciated. We are pleased to hear you had a lovely stay at Cormorant and hope to welcome you back in the future. The Owners Property Owner

The beds are unbelievably comfy, it’s what I looked forward to most after a long day walking along the beaches. We will 100% be back again!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, which is always appreciated. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Cormorant and previously Guillemot. • "Fab location, great property, internally, well kitted out BUT the listing doesn't make clear that it is semi detached and the patio is shared with only a flimsy fence between, so when eating outdoors you are 3-4m away from the other people."

Fortunately no noise issues from that on our stay. The area is wonderful.

Thank you for your feedback for Cormorant, thank you for your kind words about the property. We do mention on the website that the access to the front door at Cormorant can be along a flat path outside Guillemot and Cormorant is one of the three Seaspray cottages located on the end of the beautiful West Pentire headland that forms part of the South West Coast Path. We also mention in the property welcome email that the site is shared with two other holiday properties, each with there own allocated parking spaces. The fence separating Cormorant and Guillemot was purposely built high enough for both properties to have their own privacy. This has not been mentioned by any previous guests so far. The patio is not shared with the other property as Guillemot's patio is raised higher than Cormorant's and is completely separate from Cormorant's garden and patio area. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the Cormorant."

We were two families with 2 dogs. The house is in a great position with beautiful views to wake up to and easy walks to the beaches. Even easier when the tide is out, as you can go down the steps! The garden is lovely and was safe for the dogs. The house is well equipped, clean and very modern. All the rooms were comfortable and with high quality bedding. The teenagers loved their room as they had a “pop up” power point at the top of their beds to charge their phones. We’ve given the house 4 star as we did have some elements that could be improved…. The wine fridge is a great addition, however it never got cold enough and seemed to be iced up at the back…. Maybe this was stopping the fan?!? Whenever there was a power cut, the water heating system reset itself, so instead of being constant heated water, we ran out of hot water and some of us had to have cold showers. The table tops are all glass and some aren’t fixed. Spent most of the week readjusting them. The waste bins in the kitchen need to be bigger. The rubbish was ok, but very small overflowing bins for recycling and glass. Most recycling wouldn’t fit in the bin, so have to be propped at the side, awaiting being taken outside to the big bins. We would definitely recommend this property for family groups, as the open plan kitchen living space is great for socialising. There is a lot of space. One last thing to watch out for…. we did a Sainsburys order and almost didn’t get it… it’s quite a hidden location and the driver says the address for Cormorant isn’t on his system. Luckily we saw him driving around and nabbed him, as he was about to take the shopping back to the store!! Maybe the house needs a bigger sign at the start of the lane?

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, which is always much appreciated. We are pleased to hear you had a great time at Cormorant. We are sorry to hear that you experienced problems with the wine cooler and understand from Holly that she arranged for our Maintenance person to come round to investigate. We also understand that there was a power cut, which whilst rare, can happen at any time. Our Maintenance person is only based just around the corner and if this had been mentioned at the time, he would have been able to come straight round. We would much prefer to hear about any issues when they happen so we may deal with them right away, rather than when guests check out and indeed we have a note in our information book to this effect. We appreciate this is your holiday and work very hard to ensure that the property and everything in it is as you would expect at all times. Cormorant is on a small private lane so will not appear on any address systems. As the lane is owned by the National Trust, we are not permitted to have a sign any larger than the one we have already erected at the end of the lane for the properties. We hope that you will come back and visit us again, to enjoy the amazing views and easy access to the headland, Polly Joke and Crantock beaches. Property Owner

The TV signal is a bit hit & miss from ITV upwards, but that’s due to the weather as this property sits high on the cliff of West Pentire so is to be expected during inclement weather. • "Our stay at Cormorant during June was overall excellent, I have a few negatives that I will list and also a few positives to finish."

.. Negatives. 1. We were led to believe that the garden was a private secure garden, we asked this question due to having a badly behaved dog, when we arrived, it was noticed that he could easily get out in up to 3 places, this could be rectified if a few garden gates were installed. 2. The on going building work at Goose Rock hotel casts a shadow over Cormorant, obviously this isn't going to last forever but something to take into account when booking, overall the building site was quiet and the builders were pleasant so there were no real issues. Positives. 1. The bungalow is in a great location with great views and excellent access to both Polly Joke and Crantock beaches. 2. Very clean and tidy on arrival, everything we needed for our stay was there, including WiFi. 3. Holly did the meet and greet and made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay.

  • "We are very familiar with the village of Crantock and have holidayed here many times."

We chose to stay at cormorant as we know it has stunning views. The house itself is beautiful. The beds were extremely comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean. We have to say sadly we were very disappointed with the building work directly next door. We were informed that there would be some ‘redevelopment at a neighbouring property’ however we were not told this was in fact a building site, complete with piles of rubble, a portaloo, a tent and a caravan (which workers are staying in) directly in our view point. Sadly work also began inbetween 8:15-8:40am so we were woken fairly early each day. Something else minor to consider (which I notice has been mentioned before) is that the back garden has no gates to prevent access to the neighbouring building site or the main road. As this house is dog and child friendly we felt this really wasn’t the case as we needed to keep our young dog on a lead at all times to stop him from leaving the property. Overall we had a wonderful week, the surrounding areas in Crantock are stunning and we will definitely return, but to a different property.

  • "We stayed for one week in Cormorant and this really wasn't long enough to enjoy the beautiful house and surrounding area."

Naomi, the house manager was really lovely and extremely helpful and told us about the area on our arrival. All beds were comfortable and all rooms clean and well maintained. Kitchen fully equipped and superb views from the back bedroom window and the huge glass panelled patio doors in the lounge. We were lucky enough to have the good Bank Holiday weather and spent the entire weekend in the garden and on the beach which was great. The power showers were fantastic and again, maintained to a high standard. Highlight of the week - waking up to the stunning views! Two drawbacks for the property - the garden is not secure so if you are going with small children, as we did, then please make sure you have something that you can close the gate area off with. We purchased a windbreak that was adequate but perhaps a gate could be installed at some point. It could also, maybe, benefit young families by having an additional bolt higher up on the front door as there is only a turning lock that is within reach of little fingers. Drawback for surrounding area - Access to Crantock Beach is not how it seems. You either have to drive or walk along a very dodgy cliff track with not much security for the cliff edge or walk down the country lanes and through a field and then the sand dunes from the walk are extremely steep. We struggled with the two small children and a baby so driving was really our only options. Lovely walk but scary for someone that does not like heights. Polly Joke is closer and has a steep incline to the end of it but is a lovely safe beach for the children. All in all, a good holiday was had by all of us and we will definitely be going back. Thank you to Naomi for the cup cakes etc. and to the owners of this beautiful house x

A lovely cottage with spectacular views. We particularly liked the open plan layout leading to the outside space - it provided a huge space for everybody to get together. We unfortunately accidentally knocked a table lamp off a shelf. The table lamp was glass and it broke so money came off deposit. The owners requested £75 for this. We did break the lamp so paying for a replacement was fair enough. However we felt £75 was excessive and also felt that having glass lamps in a holiday let was not a sensible approach. We also noticed that somebody in Kittiwake had also broken a lamp - again glass lamps not a good idea. Naomi was extremely friendly and helpful - you have an excellent house manager there.

Go to Crantock or Holywell bay and get big wide open beaches, sand dunes , surfing and rock pooling and also dog friendly. However the real jewel is Polly Joke bay at the end of the West Pentire headland and only five mins walk from the Cormorant. The walk around the headland is beautiful watching the surf rolling in and lots of wild flowers and its safe to do with children. The property is well appointed being open plan to a high standard. with very clean and modern bedrooms and bathrooms. You can eat inside or sit outside as an alternative cooking yourselves some fresh fish on the bbq. After a long days surfing or playing games on the beach , jump in the hot tub to revive yourself before going to the Albion or other local and walkable pubs. You can easily visit Perranporth, St Agnes, Portreath and St Ives , or pop over to the Eden Project or other south coast attractions like "The lost gardens of Heligoland". I like photography and got some stunning pictures in the clear Cornish light , especially at the Bedruthan steps. Thanks to Naomi for looking after us so well, the Cormorant got a big thumbs up from our family and already missing sitting in the garden looking out to the sea view with a glass of Coven lager from St Austell brewery in hand. 100% recommend.

About the location

CRANTOCK

Newquay 4.5 miles.

Crantock is a small Cornish village, just a short walk from the beach, close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the North to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast. There are a number of golf courses in the area, as well as National Trust properties, traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Newquay itself is a visitor's paradise with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and nearby Dairyland and Eden Project.
