  • "A very well maintained property, clean and with every facility we needed."

Only 20 minutes' walk from the centre of St Ives and close to a comfortable pub, a bus stop and walks for the dogs, it was in a very convenient and quiet location. We hope to be back sometime. Thank you for a lovely break!

  • "Absolutely loved our stay."

The house was so clean and comfortable and well equipped. The garden is absolutely stunning and the fire was a welcome treat on colder nights.

We understand that steps are being taken to improve recycling facilities for visitors and that would be beneficial.

  • "We had a super week staying in Knill House."

The property was beautifully clean and very comfortable & cosy. We really appreciated the scones, jam & clotted cream that were waiting for us! I would say that the listing doesn't do justice to the cottage's location, which is excellent - we walked into both St Ives & Carbis Bay very easily, & it was so convenient to be close to the supermarket. We hope to stay at Knill House again!

  • "This was my 2nd stay at this property, we had a great week here everything was perfect , it was very clean and tidy We paid the extra supplement for the aga and it was well worth it, because we had a large turkey to cook I have also been in touch with the owner about rebooking next year."

Many thanks Anna for letting us stay at your wonderful home

  • "As stated in message to you during our first week, the garden isnt fully secure for dogs and this should be reflected in description - there is a big gap at the end of the garden where dogs can esaily escape."

No doors downstairs apart from study so if you have a wet dog its hard to keep just in kitchen! Parking is very tricky indeed - with unfreindly residents complaining and bins blocking car in on a Thursday night. The alley way to cottage is very very narrow so not easy to get bags etc down to house. the cottage is ok but not ideal if you have mid size to large dogs

Thank you for your review and really sorry to hear you had some issues during your stay. The garden is described as enclosed rather than fully secure. Being a cottage garden there are a couple of places where a large, adventurous dog might be able to escape! Most of our bookings are by dog owners and we have not had this issue so far but we do take your feedback onboard. I know what it’s like trying to stop mucky dogs from taking it all round the house! Although the area is quite small, the porch, utility area can be closed off from the kitchen and the rest of the house. Unfortunately, parking is tricky in St. Ives generally, so we appreciate your frustrations. The parking at the top of the unnamed lane close to the property is for anyone to use and residents should not be complaining so we will do our best to follow this up. Sorry to hear the bins were blocking you in - if this happens it’s absolutely fine to move them out of the way to get your car out. Property Owner

We had a great time at Knill house, the owners have the owners have thought of everything, , 2 very minor items , could do with a new hoover and a terrestrial aerial, otherwise everything is perfect

Thank you Keith for posting a review. Very happy to hear you had a great time at Knill House. In response to your feedback, Knill House has a new hoover and indoor terrestrial aerial. Property Owner

  • "On the whole the cottage was lovely."

Very clean and tastefully decorated and very well equipped. We were very disappointed to find the Aga had not been turned on for our arrival. Especially as it was mid October. Not only was the cottage freezing cold it meant we were unable to cook a meal. The double bed in the master bedroom was extremely uncomfortable. So much so we had to swap around. In total 3 different people slept in the bed and found it unsatisfactory. Like wise the single bed. The only 2 decent beds were in the twin bedroom. They were extremely comfortable, however we had requested they were joined together, but this didn’t get done. I feel more should be said in the listing about the location of the property. Clearly, a car is needed to get around, however parking is an issue. There are no directions for people arriving by train, as we did.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and we were pleased to see that the owners sent their apologies and swiftly provided details for you to switch the Aga on (the instructions are included in the house manual) together with the location of two oil filled radiators. Directions are provided for guests arriving by car, together with the full postal address of the property. Had you requested further details and directions we could have provided these. We can only apologise that the message was not conveyed to the housekeeper to join the twin beds together. While you found the mattress in the double bedroom to be uncomfortable, several other guests have reported very positive feedback on it. Mattress comfort is always a very personal preference. As regards the location, Knill House is in a prime location for walkers. Thanks to the great extent of all the footpaths that connects to St Ives, you can reach several parts of Cornwall including two fabulous beaches and a supermarket, without the need of a car. In addition, our Reservations team are always on hand and happy to help with any queries you might have when booking to help you ensure you pick the right place for you. Please do get in touch when you are planning your next Cornish break. Knill House is not advertised having parking. Property Owner

  • "The property was absolutely lovely, we couldn't have asked for more, all beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for a great stay."

It was lovely to be slightly away from the hustle and bustle of St.Ives at this time of year, and wevenjoyed lots of the beautiful beaches in the area. It was also lovely to be able to bring our dog for his first holiday with us and was great having some garden space to relax in. To sum up there was nothing negative to say whatsoever, we were blessed with great weather which always helps ! And following our positive experience with Sykes we would happily book again!

The property

This end-of-terrace, character cottage is situated in the picturesque town of St Ives, on the beautiful Cornish coastline.

Less than a mile from Carbis Bay beach, Knill House is perfect for families seeking a memorable coastal break.

Step inside this charming dwelling and discover the sitting room, offering a place to relax and unwind after a day of walking, while the woodburning stove offers a gentle warmth and the Smart TV provides entertainment.

There is also a small snug room with a TV, board games, XBox and good books.

From here, patio doors lead out to the garden where alfresco dining is recommended, or sit out on the wooden chairs within the shrubbery and take in the coastal breeze.

When you want to have a hand at home-cooking, rather than sampling the fine restaurants of St Ives, head to the country-style kitchen where the AGA range cooker awaits (not available during the summer), along with a pretty dining area where mealtimes can be enjoyed.

Whisk off to the bedrooms as you tire, offering a king-size, twin (zip and link to super king-size bed on request) and single, dressed in neutral tones and fresh white bed linen.

Serving the bedrooms is the bathroom which boasts a bath and shower over, great for a lazy soak or a quick rinse.

Acquaint yourself with your surroundings as you take a stroll in St Ives, winding through quaint streets and narrow lanes before reaching the quayside, offering a great selection of shops and eateries.

Soak up culture and art in the famous Tate St Ives, and marvel at the sculptures in the Barbara Hepworth Museum & Sculpture Park.

Lace up your walking boots and join the beautiful South West Coast Path, where you can catch glimpses of tall granite cliffs, hidden coves and fascinating wildlife along the way.

However you choose to spend your time, return each evening to the comfort and character of Knill House.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
