Location: Polgooth

Mevagissey 5 miles; St. Mawes 18 miles; Truro 14 miles.

With its history rooted firmly in tin mining, the village of Polgooth is now a quiet settlement on the outskirts of St. Austell, frequented by visitors enjoying the area's outstanding countryside. Just 3 miles from the sea, the village is close to several lovely beaches, and the south-west coastal path also runs close by. The area has a host of visitor attractions, with the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Tall Ships Harbour at Charlestown all within a 15 minute drive. The quaint fishing harbour at Mevagissey, with its passenger ferry across the bay to Fowey, is just 5 miles away, and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula with the villages of St. Mawes and St. Just-in-Roseland lies just a little further. Enjoy a coastal walk and take in the wonderful views, spend a day on the beach, or visit one of the numerous attractions close by. A fantastic location, any time of the year.

Previous visitors' comments about Halwyn Retreat:

The Retreat was delightful.
Mrs Rynham, Hyde, March 2013

It was welcoming and clean and comfortable. Lovely little touches like cream tea, toiletries, sauces in sachets in fridge, outside furniture and people who where there if needed, but not in your space. It was our honeymoon and we were very very pleased with the overall excellence of the Retreat.
Mrs Masterson, Woking, May 2012

The location was perfect for visiting all the local attractions, such as the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and St. Austel Brewery, around St. Austell. Also, found a nice beach in the form of Carne Beach on the Roseland peninsula.
Mr Mountain, Farnborough, August 2011

Good bed - very comfortable. Thoughtful touches provided; plenty of towels, welcoming cream tea and some toiletries. Owners were friendly and provided advice when asked but otherwise left us to enjoy our holiday.
Mrs Ricketts, Weybridge, June 2011
