Every home comfort and so peaceful. We loved every moment of our stay and didn't want to leave. Really appreciated the house being decorated for Christmas and the top notch cake on arrival. Super comfy beds and a gorgeous bathroom. Everyone in our party enjoyed their stay and that's no mean feat! Thanks again for a very much needed peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Many thanks for your very kind feedback - we had a similar feeling when we stayed the week before :-) Delighted you had a great start to your new year , and we'd love to welcome you back to Coth Skyber anytime ! Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage to stay in with plenty of space for everyone, it was a great location with easy access to St Ives (via the train), Gwithian & Hayle."

A visit to the Star Inn on Thursday evening for their quiz is definitely recommend as is the food! The new bathroom upstairs was a surprise (need to update photos) however the sink is a bit wobbly on the pedestal stand, perhaps making it somewhat unsafe? We also had a few dirty kitchen pots, pans & utensils which needed a thorough clean before they could be used but appreciate that this could be from previous clients to the cottage. Apart from those little ‘niggles’ it is a superb cottage & we would definitely recommend it & return another year! Thank you

Many thanks for your kind feedback. We apologise for the issue with the bathroom sink which we are aware of and the contractor is booked in to fix this. We have also reminded our cleaner of the need to double check all pots and pans each week. We agree the local pub is fab, and will be delighted to welcome you back to Coth Skyber anytime. • "We had a wonderful week’s holiday (14/10/23 - 21/10/23), based at Coth Skyber, visiting a number of local beaches, with Ruby, our Labrador."

Coth Skyber was a lovely base and we very quickly felt it was like a ‘home from home’ for us. All the rooms were very well equipped and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed, and again very large. The utility room was great for sorting ourselves out when returning from trips, and the garden had plenty to explore for Ruby. We also really liked St Erth, and it was perfect for visits to north and south parts of south eastern Cornwall. Hayle and Gwithian beaches are idyllic for dogs and long bracing walks. The locals were all very friendly and we enjoyed several visits to the Star. We are planning to be back in Coth Skyber in April next year

Many thanks for your kind feedback and we're delighted you enjoyed your holiday in Coth Skyber. We agree that St Erth really is the perfect base to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall - and look forward to welcoming you back again to Coth Skyber in April. Property Owner

  • "Cottage location very good ."

Plenty of room in cottage but needs updating , poor outside lighting , we had to use candles to sit outside at night. Beds could do with being a bit more comfortable. We struggled to sleep at night due to extreme hot weather , there were no fans in the house , plenty of heaters in the wardrobes though.. But we did enjoy our stay there and would recommend location.

Many thanks for your feedback and we're glad that you enjoyed your holiday and you appreciated the fantastic location. Thanks for your comments on outside lighting . We do try and keep our light pollution to a minimum and the clear nights in Cornwall are amazing away from the city lights - but we will ensure all the existing outside lights are working. Bed are a very personal taste and inevitably it's impossible to get one mattress which suits everyone. The 2 singles were replaced last year and we have a rotating replacement on all our beds every couple of years. We don't mind getting feedback that Cornwall is too hot !! But we will add fans to the property for next year as the trend currently does feel like temperatures are increasing and we appreciate that an old stone property does retain the heat well. We hope to welcome you back again soon to Coth Skyber. Property Owner

The cottage itself has everything you need for your holiday. The cottage is light and airy with a lovely garden perfect for children to play in while adults can watch on from the comfy living area. We were a group of two parents, two grandparents and two young children (3 &8) and we all said it was our favourite location to stay in this part of Cornwall having previously stayed in Porthleven, Marazion and Hayle. The branch line to St Ives being a 15 minute walk away is a massive bonus as is being able to drive to St Michael's Mount in a few minutes. We loved Hayle for the 3 amazing ice cream shops, but preferred the quietness of being able to relax I the quiet village. There are lovely local walks, particularly along the river Hayle towards the RSPB reserve. We can't wait to return!

Many thanks for your kind feedback, we're so happy you enjoyed your holiday in St Erth. We think the village is the best of both worlds -lovely and peaceful to relax but very close to all the sights. And glad we're doing our bit for net Zero - letting the train take the strain :-) We hope to welcome you back again sometime soon ! Property Owner

We found parking difficult in our large vehicle, but the free village car park is only a step away. Convenient base for the area - it's close to the park and ride station for accessing St Ives and numerous other places in Cornwall.

Many thanks for your kind feedback. We love the community feel of the Star Inn - and agree that the scenic train into St Ives is simply the best way to get there ! We hope to welcome you back to Coth Skyber soon. Property Owner

The accommodation was lovely and clean. The rear car parking area was easily accessible, after working out the bolt, and key collection via key code from the box at the back door was easy. Very spacious rooms and cosy gas fire/central heating with access to manually adjust the temperature was great. Had a good nights sleep and enjoyed excellent weather all week. The best weather we've experienced in Cornwall, for a long time. Considering it was the beginning of February! Our dog enjoyed the garden and although we couldn't make full use of it, I'm sure if we visited at a different time of year we would. St Erth is a lovely little village which is very central and provides access to lots of different places within a short drive, Hayle, Helston, Penzance and St Ives. All in all it was a fabulous holiday.

Absolutely loved the peaceful location in the village of St Erth. You could hear a pin drop at night and the dark skies were just fabulous, we’ve never seen so many stars. The cottage had everything we needed and the village pub was great, just a few metres from the front door. The food was great and we were made to feel really welcome. A coffee table was the only thing missing in the living room so hopefully Santa might bring one for next year. We’re hoping to come back next summer as we had such a lovely break and we were ideally placed for all the places we love to visit.

Thanks so much for your positive feedback and we're delighted you enjoyed your holiday in Coth Skyber. Santa has indeed brought some coffee tables, and also as a bonus a brand new upstairs bathroom with a fab new shower. The pub has been getting great reviews and we're delighted when our guests can support it as it's so important for the little community. We look forward to welcoming you back to Coth Skyber again ! • "Coth Skyber is a roomy house in a good location."

Cleanliness found satisfactory. The only major problem was the worn out mattresses. There are two double beds, both with ridged frames that make a noise with every movement and two single beds, one with slats (some up the wrong way) and the other a ridged broken bed with a distorted frame! These also had worn out mattresses! To add to the problem only thick, synthetic winter duvets were provided to complete the discomfort. A restful stay? I think not! All of these beds are well past their best. A note was left at the property informing of the above. I would have liked to contact Sykes outside of a review but it isn't made possible. It is also noted that only positive reviews seem get published so I don't expect to see this one any time soon!

Many thanks for your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the size and location of Coth Skyber, and were happy with the cottage cleaning. It is unfortunate that you waited until your holiday was over before contacting Sykes or ourselves as we would have welcomed the opportunity to improve your experience . It was a very hot week and we would have provided lighter bedding had you asked - our cleaner lives very close and would have happily popped in. Beds are obviously a very personal matter . As you will note our recent guest feedback has been very positive about the beds :- "the bed in the darker of the two bedrooms was really comfortable! Loved the duvet and the pillows - so soft!", "The beds and pillows were very comfy", "Really appreciated the comfortable mattresses and sofas", "its the first time i have actually had a good nights sleep, away on holiday, so thank you". That said we welcome all feedback (which is indeed published !) and will endeavour to improve this area further for all our guests going forwards. We hope to welcome you again to Coth Skyber. • "I would have liked to have been more informed about the suitability for walking in the local area."

It was not possible to walk anywhere safely with a double buggy. Heated towel rails would have been nice. Damp towels aren’t pleasant. I tried to get the heating on once and the thermostat kept saying the temperature was at or over 23 degrees there was no way this could have been possible. Having said all that it was a nice cottage. The beds and pillows were very comfy. Also there were lots of things I didn’t expect in the kitchen… foil, cling film, kitchen towel. The owner was very nice and accommodating and the cleaner was very nice too.

Many thanks for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your holiday, found the beds comfy and the cottage well equipped. We do include in the cottage info pack lots of information about the local walks (which are one of the particular attractions of St Erth) but appreciate that Cornish lanes and paths are not always well suited to double buggies ! We have a new bathroom being installed in the cottage this year which will have a heated towel rail, so thanks for confirming that this is something our guests would appreciate. We hope to welcome you back to Coth Skyber again sometime in the future. Property Owner

Lovely vilage with nice pub. Very convenient for south west Cornwall (St Ives, Marazion etc) bit of a trek up to Falmout, Truro or Padstow. Main downfall is the parking arourd the rear of the property being a bit tight for a large estate car, other than that we had a very nice holiday.

Many thanks for your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your holiday and appreciated the cottage village location. We enjoyed sitting in the garden and walking along the river The cottage description omitted the fact that the property had a washing machine and freezer which would have been useful to know. We don't like apartments and this house was wonderfully big for the 2 of us plus our dog. We got to know the amazing beaches at Porth Kidney and Gwithian as well as Marazion as St Erth village is placed perfectly between them. It's always difficult to know what to bring when you go self-catering but everything we needed was provided from towels to kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets. We found the cottage easily but came in at the front which is difficult to back in and out of so for the rest of the holiday we accessed the property from the Private Road at the back. (Can I suggest that Sykes explain that in detail on the information). Coth Skyber feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but in the centre of everything! Loved it!
