  • "The best cottage we have ever stayed in."

Beautifully presented, and furnished to a very high standard throughout. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need (I always take decent scissors, can opener, veg peeler etc with me, but didn't even get them out of the bag). We were all (including Missy our 11 month old puppy) made welcome from the moment we arrived. Extra touches like the cream tea provided by the owners, and welcome treats for Missy, really made this a week we will never forget. We highly recommend having a meal at the village pub (a few minutes walk away), staff are very friendly, the food is reasonably priced, and, beautifully cooked. There's a village shop opposite the pub, but we found this a bit pricey. However, there are several major supermarkets locally, meaning we were able to get everything we needed for our stay very easily. Plenty of visitor attractions nearby, many of which are very dog friendly. We visited a couple of local beaches Par Sands & Porthpean (some restrictions are in place during the summer months at Porthpean) both were beautiful, clean, and dogs friendly. Par Sands was our go to beach, unlike Porthpean it's dog friendly all year round, with no restrictions on when dogs can use it. Par Sands is easy to access, off a main road and has ample parking even on busy days. The only problem we had with this location was, trying to pay for parking, which was only accessible through the Ringo app, which incorporates what they call a convenience charge (20p) for using the service and charges for texts to confirm you've paid etc (50p in total, additional charges, for using the service and text confirmations). Thank you for a truly memorable holiday that we didn't want to end!

My wife is severely disabled but she encountered few problems in what I would describe as a disabled friendly property. It is well named as the suntrap courtyard had sun from breakfast till supper. Our hosts Fran and John were lovely and so keen to make sure we had no issues and thank you Fran for the welcoming cream tea! Finally, the property is in Sticker which is quite unspoilt and very friendly.

Local village has convenience store and dog friendly pub, and there is even a stock of popular paperbacks and DVDs available to borrow at the village bus stop. The cottage has all the facilities for either using as a base or to enjoy quiet times in the secure garden. The owner, Fran, lives in an adjacent house and is so friendly and welcoming. Also fully accessible, although no hand rails etc everything else was spot on for me with my mobility issues. The name is absolutely true! Sun all day on the patio and sun into the cottage but it didn't overheat either. About the location

ST. AUSTELL

Charlestown 2 miles; Carlyon Bay 3 miles; Mevagissey 6 miles; Fowey 8 miles.

The old market town of St Austell, just a mile or two from the south coast, is famous as the historic centre of the china clay mining industry. Today, its many beaches and its sub-tropical gardens provide plenty to see and do. The wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are perfect for a family day out, and a little further afield Caerhays Castle provides a stunning backdrop to Porthluny Cove. On the edge of town, St Austell Brewery offers tours of the Victorian brewing equipment and a chance to sample the local beer, and for those looking for surf and sand, St Austell Bay has several beaches to choose from - Porthpean, Carlyon Bay, Pentewan, Polkerris - the last offering a variety of water-sports. As well as a small shingle beach, Charlestown, a pretty, historic port, often has wooden sailing ships in the harbour, and is popular as a film location. A little further afield are Fowey and its beautiful estuary to the east and the fishing port of Mevagissey to the west. With lots to do and something to keep the whole family entertained, St Austell is a great year-round destination.
