  • "The house is a stones throw from the lovely village shops, cafes, pubs, and of course the castle in Tintagel."

The surrounding countryside is stunning, plenty of footpaths and walks for the dogs, and only a short drive to any number of beautiful beaches. Kingfisher house is well laid out and had everything needed for our stay, including some bonus fudge and biscuits (which went down very well with the teenager). The kitchen is well equipped should you need to cook, and the lounge area/dining area was comfy. The only thing that could have made it even better would be a small side table, as it was a wrench to leave the sofa to get the cup of tea from the dining table. Bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, with linen and towels provided, and although quite close to the road the noise was minimal and at night was almost non existent. The heating took the edge off the Autumn evening chill and there was always plenty of hot water. Unfortunately the bathroom fan did not appear to be working, and as the water was so hot, the bathroom did get very steamed up and was lacking ventilation. We did use the dehumidifier provided, but it didn’t work particularly well. One thing to be aware of is that parking is a more than a little on the tight side, even in a Micra. Luckily no one parked in the space next to me, but I can imagine it may be difficult if there is another car. Reversing in was definitely easier than reversing out. All in all we had a lovely stay, and would be happy book if visiting the area again.

We managed ok with a medium sized car and someone helping the driver but for those with larger vehicles it could be an issue. It was a lovely touch for there to be some milk, biscuits and fudge to welcome us.

Kitchen was well resourced and had an excellent set of pans which was great. The allocated parking spot was tight so we used the free car park nearby. Some minor maintence needed in downstairs bathroom - door handle kept dropping and the extractor fan sounded like a plane taking off - but lovely place to stay and convenient for coastal walks, the local shops and visiting other attrractions.

Location to the village was excellent. Outside space was on the small side but enough space to be able to sit out there. Having off road parking was a bonus, if the other cars were parked it can get a bit tight to get in and out. The only issue we had was that there was no electric shower, the actual shower was there but no shower head? We made do with hand held shower unit.

Extremely clean and very homely, lots of little personal touches in each room. So much equipment, there was nothing lacking. Good enclosed area for the dog, but maybe a good idea to have some mesh over the gate as small dogs could possibly escape through the gaps. The location was perfect for the village, with shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs all just around the corner. Would certainly return to Kingfisher House.

( there appears to be an existing dispute with neighbours) There was no Garden only stones at the front and if I was there for a summer holiday the lack of privacy would have been an issue. The electric shower had no hose and the mains lacked power! I found the company excellent but I would not book the kingfisher property again. I was over for a family funeral not a holiday the property served its purpose as a place to stay but had I booked this property for a holiday, I would have been disappointed.

The parking space is very tight but we fitted our ix35 into it but if you are not a confident driver you may need some help with someone assistance. My only criticism was I couldn't see any instructions around recycling. I took our card, tin and plastic home with us. There was somewhere to put glass but I couldn't find any instructions on when and where to put any recycling out. This may be down to me not seeing it in the property instructions. Buy overall a great stay

Bed was comfy, lovely and quiet so had a good night's sleep every night. Well placed for the south west coast path, easy walks to Trebarwith Strand one way and St Nectan's Glen and Waterfall the other. Close to Tintagel Castle and the amazing coast line. Easy walk to local pubs and restaurants, local shops have everything you need. Only downsides were no manual for the oven so couldn't use and parking is a little tight so need to be aware unless confident parking. All in all would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Disappointed and hurt …. We have owned and rented ‘Kingfisher House ‘ for the past 4 yrs now and received nothing but ‘GLOWING REVIEWS ‘ We have worked very hard to make the property as comfortable as possible, so to read this review from Ms Revell was incredibly hurtful. A ‘SYKES’ representative inspects the property before every new guests arrives and assures us the beds were perfectly serviceable and in good condition, prior to Ms Revell and her family arriving .. The window handle was also in perfect working condition .. I’ve personally shared three separate phone calls and two texts with Ms Revell offering to provide ‘two brand new beds ‘ during her stay, to which she declined, so, as for her not being able to get hold of the owner is some what baffling ….. As for the house smelling, the cleaner does a fantastic job of cleaning the house ( please see previous reviews ) as for the shed where we keep replacement paint to keep the house in the high standard it currently boast, the shed is out of bounds for guests and maybe parents should point out to their children, there’s nothing of interest there for them. The castle is less than a 5 minute walk away too. And Bossiney beach. We were in a Range Rover Evoke & it's extremely tight getting through the space to the parking space, as other guests have also said about the parking. Tintagel provides excellent access to SW coastal path and the house is an excellent location to use as a base to explore the north Cornwall coastline. We were fortunate that the adjacent car space wasn't in use as i don't believe we would have been able to access it with our skoda estate. Is very near to all of the Tintagel village amenities. The permanent neighbours were kind and helpul. My one small criticism was that access to the allotted parking space was very restricted especially when reversing in or out due to the neighbours allotted parking spaces at the side of the access driveway. If two cars had been parked side by side in the allotted (Kingfisher) parking space then neither would have been able to maneuver in or out without both drivers being present and they could be complete strangers. Fortunately only my car was present throughout our stay so no big problems. I would still be happy to stay there again.

Location of cottage is excellent for ( 10 yards from Main Street ) Tintagel and Cornwall, and the King Arthur’s Arms is a good place for eating. Cottage is ok for a family of 4, 4 adults may find it a bit on the small size. If you have booked remember to take tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bin bags etc as you will not find much there ie 4 tea bags small amount of coffee, sugar 1 bin bag and not much else. But overall Cornwall is always the place to visit.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive.
