  • "Terrible damp and leak."

Uninterested and rude owner when he finally spoke to us on last day. Numerous days of the holiday interrupted by workmen. House not that clean but we could have put up with this if not for the other issues. two rooms totally out of commission and unable to use the back garden for several days due to workmen in the area, particularly not great with a dog. If the house was not ready for rental we should have been notified in advance and offered refund or alternatives. Both Sykes and landlord very slow to respond to issues.

  • "Superb property."

Great location. Few niggles. Fan oven doesn't work. This was left on feedback in July. No welcome book to be found. No information on waste etc. It does state " charcoal BBQ " that we had planned to use. However this was rusted in bits in the garden. Overall, a lovely property.

  • "Fantastic place."

Would couldn't have wished for a better more comfortable place to stay. Weather was not the best, but staying there made it.

  • "On arrival we had a problem with the TV as there was no signal."

We looked in the property booklet for contact phone numbers, unfortunately, the two numbers in the book were some years out of date as both numbers were no longer applicable to the property. We had to wait until Monday when Sykes office opened, therefore, no emergency cover!! This should be corrected without delay.

Only minor things , barbecue broken and not cleaned, fan in oven not working .

  • "Absolutely fabulous beach cottage."

Perfect location, quirky decor and lots of useful ‘extra’s such as a beach trolley and wind breaker! Would highly recommend the Jam Jar for pizza night, a walk to the Bowgie Inn along the coastal path and a walk into Newquay which isn’t actually that far. We will 100% be back!

  • "We had a lovely week in Trevethen cottage, its location and the cottage is idyllic and we will definitely return."

There were a couple of things that let it down unfortunately but these could be easily rectified. The oven doesn’t work properly which meant waiting a long time for things to cook. The sofas were different to the one’s in the photographs and so it was difficult for us to all watch tv comfortably. The back garden area could probably do with a good jet wash and a bit of TLC but overall a really lovely cottage and stay.

Very comfy beds and bedding with generous size en suites. Sun trap garden with plenty of furniture for sitting out. Loved the outdoor shower!

It got to 4pm and I had to call him back poor service from the owner, I would not say it’s child friendly holiday cottage garden is on two different levels and the gates are not good, summerhouse is dampening and moulding For a big family there was only two pans not good at all

  • "Trevethen is an amazing cottage."

It is large and well appointed. The kitchen is well laid out with ample plates, utensils etc. We made good use of the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The 2 double bedrooms are beautiful, both with large ensuite bathrooms. The other 2 rooms have full sized bunks and are of a good size. The dining room has a large farmhouse style table which would comfortably seat eight adults. The lounge is cozy with a working open fireplace and is very relaxing. The whole house has a lovely feel and flow. The backgarden is terraced and would be great in the summer months. There's a large summer house, 2 tables and a BBQ. You can access the garden from either the kitchen or from the landing on the first floor. Having parking for 2 cars, being a 5 minute walk to the beach, pubs and shop, Trevethen has everything and more you could ask for. Claire who is the housekeeper kept in touch prior to us arriving as storm Eunice was causing some travel problems. The cottage was warm, clean and smelt wonderful. As you can probably tell we all had a brilliant holiday and look forward to rebooking sometime next year

  • "Wow! This cottage was all we expected and more."

This year was a hard one for our family after losing our special person, my grandad, in October and my husband having to work away this Christmas. We booked last minute as none of us could bare to stay home without him this year. As hard as Christmas was, our stay at Trevethan Cottage was lovely and just made it special, in particular for the children. We were so impressed with the cottage, the facilities and the housekeeper, Claire was just brilliant and so responsive when we had any questions and gave some recommendations. We are looking forward to returning (already rebooked!) and will most definitely be recommending to our friends and family.

Beautiful location, however the cottage was situated on road that went to beach, so was far busier than we expected, but it wasn’t an issue, and we throughly enjoyed our stay

  • "Good size property - ideal for 6 of us (including kids age 14, 12 and 7)."

Generally well equipped (e.g. plenty kitchen equipment, outside access and shower when returning from beach, hairdryer, beach trolley). The cottage would benefit from a dustpan and brush and a working washing line or clothes airer. BBQ grill in the shed had to be cleaned before it could be used. Summerhouse and outdoor furniture cushions detract from the property as lots of bird poo in evidence!

A formal dining room offers a fabulous spot for a family feast, with beautiful parquet flooring beneath and a feature fireplace adding grandeur, you can look forward to catching up with your loved ones over delicious meals.

Prepare your snacks and food in the country kitchen, reached down the hall and up three steps, it boasts lovely pale green fitted units with every appliance you need, as well as a washing machine placed perfectly on the first-floor landing.

Opposite the kitchen is the ground-floor bedroom, with bunk beds in here it makes a great choice for kids or a member of the group less able, with a ground-floor shower room to serve it.

Step out into the multi-level garden on sunny days, with an outdoor shower near the side entrance so you can come straight from the beach and wash off the sand, as well as a kennel for your four-legged friend, whilst steps lead up to the raised patio with bench seating for all to dine alfresco and a lovely summerhouse with two day beds in, sure to be a fun spot for children to play!

Enter the first floor from the walkway leading from the raised patio or head up the internal stairs and discover three remaining bedrooms, with a lovely double room complete with an en-suite bathroom, a further double with an en-suite shower room and views over to the church, and finally a triple bunk room with a double below and a single on top.

Upon waking, make your way from the house and straight down onto Crantock Beach where you can enjoy a beautiful morning stroll along the waters and let the sea air wake you up, with the long stretch of golden sands being a much quieter and tranquil spot than other more popular beaches over in Newquay, although still excellent for swimming and surfing.

Keen surfers will want to try out the incredible surf at Fistral Beach where large waves coming from the Cribbar Reef create the perfect conditions to show off your skills, while beginners can get involved too with several surf schools dotted around at all of Newquay's beaches to teach you Cornwall's favourite watersport.

Grab lunch in Newquay choosing from a host of restaurants and pubs to dine in, with some boasting stunning beach views, before heading over to the Blue Reef Aquarium to meet all manner of sea creatures from sharks to turtles and many exotic species, you can catch a diving display or a feeding session for added excitement, great for all ages!

For an evening treat head to Lighthouse Cinema, or sample some cocktails at one of the many bars here.

Newquay Zoo is another fantastic day trip, with Jungle Jack's and Oasis Fun Pools being great ideas for those with smaller children.

Delight in a range of fun from the peaceful haven of Trevethen Cottage in Crantock.
