  • "This is beautifully well kept cottage."

It has everything you could possibly want. It really is the perfect stay. You have given us a wonderful retreat, which positioned in a breathy part of Cornwall. Thank you for the privilege of staying here. Although it’s only home for 1 week a year, we are very proud of it as if it were our own. Our medium Sheepaspocadoodle loves it too.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Trebarwith Strand."

Well suited to a couple who like walking/swimming. Good access to beach/coastal path. At low-mid tide the beach is good for bodyboarding if the swell is up, or swimming if not (lifeguards are present during the summer season 10am-6pm). Worth noting that the beach is covered from mid-high tide and although we saw some people swimming, you would have to be quite confident to swim off the rocks. Nice to sit on the rocks and watch the waves though. Nice food at the local pub and the surf shop sells lots of beach/swimming/surfing equiptment. The cottage is a good size for 2 people, comfortable and equipped with most of what you would need in terms of cooking equipment. The only downsides are that 1) (as noted in other reviews) the shower isn't very powerful and the height cannot be adjusted (but if you keep it on ECO, you don't get the temperature surges that others have noted), 2) there isn't any outside space for drying towels/swimming stuff or an airer for doing so inside (we hung them over the wall of the carpark opposite) and 3) the cheaper carpark is 3 minutes walk up the hill. Important note about the council car park: it is free overnight, but they no longer sell weekly tickets at the carpark, just monthly or day rates (the information on the council website is out of date). None of those issues spoilt our holiday, but we would recommend taking steps to mimimise the impact of the first two points (perhaps by fixing the shower head fitting and providing an airer) and updating the booking infomation on the third would have meant we enjoyed the stay even more.

  • "I have always been intrigued by Smuggler's Cottage and so when I found it on line I had to book."

Trebarwith Strand is probably my favourite beach and being a stones throw away it was a perfect bolt hole. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and everything worked even though I had to resort to the manuals in order to figure out how to use the oven and hob. Smuggler's Cottage is small but well planned and laid out with plenty of heating options to keep it warm and cosy. I would certainly book again.

  • "A beautiful little cottage so close to the sea!"

The cottage was so well thought out with everything you could need, including good cooking equipment and entertainment, and comfortable bed. The host is clearly very attentive, it was spotlessly clean, and the Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. It is worth noting that with the small cottage, storage for clothing etc is limited. In the very cold temperatures (sub zero) the shower did struggle with water pressure so was a bit spluttery, but still hot. A wonderful and cosy way to spend December.

  • "Love this property; we have stayed there before as it is ideal for a couple and a dog."

Cosy and comfortable, it was spotlessly clean and a good shower adds to its good points. We noticed that the WiFi was considerably better and more robust than previous visits so that too was a bonus. The only minor issue was that the TV didn’t work but that didn’t affect us. Bottom-line is would we go again? Answer: yes, we’ve already booked!

Thank you for your glowing feedback. The television has now been replaced, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely beautiful little cottage and had everything we required for a wonderful stay in the most beautiful location."

Parking directly opposite was expensive but we could park in the carpark further up the hill which was free this time of year, luckily for us. So close to the sea and gorgeous pub with amazing food .will definitely stay here again in the future. A little remote fir some maybe but was just what we were looking for . Thankyou

  • "Beautifully and tastefully equipped cottage, a lovely bolt hole."

A pity that parking is an issue, the car park in front of the cottage is privately owned so having to walk to and from the council car park further away is a necessity. And not convenient. Despite that, nice and quiet and relaxing.

  • "Excellent facilities, comfortable furnishings."

Maintenance book available so that any slight niggles can be passed on to owner direct. This gives reassurance that any problems will be looked at. Only problem is the parking. If an arrangement could be made with the private carpark opposite the cottage it would enhance the experience considerably.

Thank you for your feedback. We have tried to arrange parking in the private car park opposite the cottage but the owner said no. Between 1st November and 31st March there are no parking restrictions on the road in the village and a large free council car park just up the road. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cozy cottage that was exactly what we expected and it didn’t disappoint."

It was perfect for the 2 of us and our dog and we love Trebarwith. The cottage is well appointed, equipped and comfortable. WiFi is an issue but it the same in every cottage we have stayed in at Trebarwith Strand - it goes with the territory. Only slight issue is with Syke’s description of the car parking. Don't buy a 7-day rover ticket as it is not valid in the small car park next to Smugglers Cottage! Overall we loved it and would go back.

Thank you for your review and we are delighted to hear that you you all enjoyed your stay at Smugglers Cottage. We advise that guests use the Council car park located a few hundred yards from the property. The private car park opposite the property is more expensive and wont be covered by any Council rover ticket you might purchase. We hope you will return to Smugglers Cottage for your next Cornish holiday. Property Owner

  • "We loved the cottage."

The he location is amazing, the kitchen well equipped, lovely comfy bed and great wood burner. The broadband is extremely poor and kept going and staying off for hours which meant we couldn’t go online ( to make bookings and research places to go during our stay) It made it quite difficult in this day and age and during this COVID climate where online bookings are the way. It made it hard to watch the tv too (the weather was a bit rubbish in the evenings so we would have enjoyed the opportunity to watch it at times). It would be good for your future customers to fix this. However overall we loved our stay. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.

Thank you taking the time to leave your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Smugglers Cottage. While we would never guarantee wifi strength, the broadband connection is usually quite reliable at this property. BT replaced the cables in early July which vastly improved the signal however the property still relies on overhead cables, therefore it can be affected by certain weather conditions sometimes due to the scenic coastal location. • "The location of the cottage was excellent, a short walk to the beach."

The Interior of the cottage was stylish with modern kitchen items and beautiful artwork on the walls, the washer/dryer was a bonus and the oven and hob and microwave were new and clean. We had purchased the Rover parking as detailed in the brochure for £47.00 this enabled us to park all week and go out every day and park on the Long stay car parks without any extra charge. Many dog walkers tried to use the bin for their disposal, we then understood why it had a lock on it!. The property welcomes dogs, we do not have dogs, I experienced some difficulty with my breathing as I can be allergic to dogs, this may be a consideration for the future when booking. This property is a little gem.

  • "Lovely little place, would certainly return in the future, nice touch of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, flowers and the lovely scones and jam."

Only drawback was, there was a car park opposite which you had to pay or the free council one was further up the road. Couldn’t the cottage have its own spot in that pay one, I’m sure it could be arranged, as not often used, even the Port William staff and customers get to use it.

The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside.
