  • "A lovely little cottage in a beautiful valley."

Rain didn’t prevent walking and indeed made St Nectern’s Glen waterfall, a short walk up the valley, even more impressive. Cottage was clean and cosy and the wood burning stove made for warm evenings.

  • "We felt that the sleeping area was very claustrophobic."

You could not sit up in bed or stand upright at any point in the sleeping area. This meant crawling from one side of the bed to the other whilst bent double. The stairs were very steep and narrow and could be dangerous in the middle of the night if you needed to go downstairs to the toilet. We do not think this is suitable for older people who may have mobility issues. However the location was stunning and if only it hadnt rained all the time we could have spent a lot of time in the grounds.

The area is ideal for exploring Cornwall, the local countryside and coastal walks were stunning.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at coachmans."

The only drawback being the height and size of the bedroom (which we were prepared for from other reviews) but even though we aren't terribly tall it was still a bit cramped. I did have to buy a feather duster to get rid of the cobwebs in the bedroom beams. Other reviews had said the heater in the bathroom didn't work - we found it worked fine. The cottage was very well equipped and clean. The location is amazing and perfectly placed for walks on the north cornwall coast.

It actually smells of wet woodland which is because of the area it is in, as the greenery there doesn’t seem to dry out even on a hot day.

  • "Beautiful location by a stream and in a wood but there is lots of moisture in the air which gives the cottage a smell of damp; even on a 30 degree sunny week with all the windows and the door open."

Stunning waterfall nearby; accessed via a private footpath for some of the way. Friendly knowledgeable owner on site. Downstairs is cosy and quaint, but the headroom in the bedroom is very limited; you need to bend over to get into/around the bed and I am only 5ft 6"! The stairs up are very steep so the bedroom would be no good for anyone with mobility/back issues. Bathroom looks newly re-furbished.

  • "A great little cottage, fully equipped and in a wonderful location."

Quiet and peaceful with stunning grounds. I would recommend taking indoor footwear as the stairs are a tad steep and polished. The bedroom is…interesting. You would only be able to stand up if you were less than 5’6” tall! Slept like a log though Robin is an excellent host and made us most welcome. Top job and will look to return.

  • "Lovely cottage in amazing surrounding so quiet and peaceful We knew there was a height issue with the bedroom but didn’t realise the restrictions were quite as low The cottage has good supply of equipment and crockery We did not use the wood burner as the storage heater made the cottage warm and cozy."

We walked up to the waterfall but didn’t wear wellies so had to barefoot paddle in the freezing water ! We would return but to one of the other cottages

It was very peaceful and thoroughly enjoyed the location, plenty of walking, and coastal path nearby offering spectacular views.Owners were on hand if I needed anything although the occasion didn't arise. As other reviewers not a lot of headspace in the bedroom so not ideal for tall people.

Also many stunning coastal walks easily accessible from the Coachmans. We enjoyed our stay there , the kitchen and bathroom are in good order , the living area could do with an update to make it more comfortable , its just an assortment of old furniture both in the living room and bedroom . Okay for a quiet base for touring the area.

  • "Good location for the places we wanted to visit and quiet."

On arrived, the Coach House appeared satisfactory and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. The bathroom was clean and acceptable. The kitchen looked clean and was usable but it was equipped an array of old, mis-matching of trays, cutlery and utensils. Although the walls in the lounge area were clean and bright, the furniture needs updating. The whole ambience of the room was spoiled by a rather old, grubby rug/runner? in front of the fireplace. The mezzanine had an assortment of “furniture”. The mattress was comfortable but the duvet/bedding needs replacing. There was an overall smell of damp in the cottage.

The cottage was brilliant , and made us feel like home . The little stream by the cottages was beautiful and felt so peaceful when sitting outside in the evenings. We lived the fact that there was a path from the cottage garden that lead to the forest and to Nectan's Glen . The little bench outside the cottage was great as we sat there star gazing in the evenings . The cottage came well equiped with cleanibg supplies , iron , ironing board and hoover . We would definitely love to come back .

  • "Pretty little stable conversion, cozy warm and well equipped."

Loved staying here, the weather wasn't great during the week so missed the walks in the 20 acres. Very wet underfoot. The only downside to the cottage was the bedroom, the stairs were not for those with mobility problems and once up them the headroom wasn't great, we got dressed downstairs. The bed very warm and comfortable. Full size bathroom with an over the bath shower. Loads of very hot water. We met the owner on the first and last day but he was on hand next door if needed. Gated entrance to the drive so no passing traffic. Would really recommend this cottage.

  • "The cottage is detached along a private track, about 100 metres off the main road between Tintagel and Boscastle."

There is little road noise. It is in a very attractive position at the head of St Nectan’s Glen; the start of a beautiful walk to the waterfall. Almost directly across the road is the footpath to Rocky Valley, a wonderful walk that opens out after one kilometre onto the sea and coastal footpath. Although it is possible to use footpaths to walk into Tintagel, we chose to travel in by car. Tintagel is about one mile away, while Boscastle is no more than about 3 miles. Even in early June, carparks were very busy but not full. The cottage is in a ideal place to visit this part of the Cornish coast. The coastal path is close. Padstow (45 minutes) and Port Isaac ( 30 minutes) are nearby and we were lucky enough to catch one of the free Friday night performances by Fishermans’ Friends on the beach at Port Isaac, We were received warmly by Mr Evans who resides in a neighbouring house. He gave us a useful introduction to the cottage and immediate surroundings. The weather unfortunately was very cool and wet for the time of year and we made use of the wood burning stove (3 day supply of wood) to supplement the radiators. It is a compact, clean, comfortable cottage and fine for two people. It has a good range of cooking facilities, proficient WiFi and TV, hot water in abundance, shower and bath. The bedroom however has low headroom and is cramped. It would be a particular challenge for anyone tall or with mobility issues. There is limited storage upstairs and it is supplemented by a wardrobe downstairs. Parking is adjacent to the cottage; a big bonus after some other cottages we have rented. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week in the cottage. The British weather tested the cottage (and ourselves), but it responded to the challenge with flying colours.

  • "Although it is set in lovely grounds with pretty walks."

The big let down is the bedroom it was not really as described. It does say it has a low roof, but even I had problems and I'm only 5'4" My husband who is 5'10" really struggled. The bedroom itself had no room to get round the bed and you were bent double trying. We had to get dressed downstairs. The bathroom is nice but in the photos you cannot see how close it is to the living room. It leaves nothing to the imagination for anyone sat in the there. We did enjoy our holiday but would book either Mill Cottage or Miller's House next time.

The cottage is picturesque. Internally it was comfortable and well equipped. The bedroom ceiling is low so if your tall it’s going to be difficult. The WiFi didn’t work for 4 days and the owner was away. But it was sorted quickly on return. The owner was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this cottage. Overall we had a great holiday

But especially the setting - more could be made of this, and the walk up the valley to St Nectan's shrine now being developed, plus the short and delightful walk to the sea in the other direction. The position generally couldn't be better. One thought, the ivy is best removed at some stage from all the tall trees on the slopes, for eventually it kills them.
