There are fabulous woodland walks along the River Fowey too, starting from Lostwithiel’s medieval bridge. Restormel Castle on the outskirts of town has some fine views from the ramparts and Lostwithiel Museum has plenty of interesting historical tales for the visitor. From this Lostwithiel cottage there is plenty of choice in sandy beaches around St Austell Bay providing opportunities for walking, surfing and play. The Eden Project is a few miles away as is the quaint harbour at Mevagissey, or the elegant riverside town of Fowey with little cobbled streets and specialist shops.
